Good luck from Iowa State

ISU had the lead late and about to upset and the ISU coach gets a suspect technical late which helped MSU take the lead. If I remember correctly...

That was the NC game that year.

It didn't quite happen that way, but you're not far off. ISU did have a lead on MSU when Tom Izzo got a well-timed technical foul. After that, MSU got the better of the officiating without a doubt. By the time Eustachy got his technical fouls (he got two in one shot to get ejected), the outcome had been decided. ISU was a dangerous #2 seed that year, but the NCAA Committee paired the best #2 with the best #1.

Larry Eustacy started drinking that night, I think.

Sometime early in the second half, judging by his ridiculous behavior on the court. There were a lot of bad calls both ways in that game, but if you're so out of control you get a double technical and an ejection on that stage, you don't deserve the win.

Meh. I probably would have gotten arrested in his situation.

So, I guess Izzo did deserve the win because his ridiculous behavior warranted just just one technical? ;)

Izzo deserved the win because he coached the better team on the floor.

And you're quite sure he'll do the same tonight, because he has the better team on the floor.

I've reviewed this thread again this morning and I'm glad to see I'm not the only Sooner fan that hasn't been fooled by you.

Exactly. Just another aggie showing up to gig Sooner fans.

MisterMarch, what happened was that the calls went against ISU after Izzo got his T. Do I really have to dig into the archives and prove that to you or will you just admit the obvious? I'm not saying you didn't deserve to win the game, or title that year. All I'm saying is Eustachy was out-foxed when it came to dealing with the officials. He waited until the game was essentially over to go ballistic on them. Now, had he done a milder version of that rant about 5 minutes sooner (and only got 1 T), that game may have been decided at the buzzer. To be honest, the two of you should not have even played in that game. You were a strong #1 seed who should have played one of the weaker #2 seeds. That 2000 ISU season was their best EVER, bar none.

Didn't Fizer foul out?

I watched that game live, and I've watched countless replays of it on BTN. It was a much tougher contest than the title game against Florida, but the refs were awful from start to finish and that went both ways. Both teams deserved better, but I don't think it would have changed the outcome.

Worst thing about that game was the fact that Iowa State, who should have been a number 1 seed and at the worst were the best number 2 seed, had to play the top team in the country in Auburn Hills, Michigan which was in Michigan State's backyard. That game is done and over but I hope Oklahoma just comes out and kicks Michigan State's ass tonight. Michigan State looked like crap for a long time this year and we all know all the yada yada yada about Izzo bringing his team to a peak at the right time. Well, IMO, Oklahoma had the best team in the Big 12 all year to make a run in the tourney and I think they are peaking too and they have a coach who is every bit the equal to Izzo. I hope OU destroys the Spartans tonight.

Bahahaha!

My friends, ISU fans, have been saying the same thing all year. OU is built best in the conference to make a run because we can play at all paces. That's a very good thing.
