I think he's either gonna be cheap or go with some young guy just because they're young or just focus on "open offense" and we're gonna continue this fricking death spiral.

I really do.

Based on what I observed in the press conference yesterday, I don't have much confidence in Joe either. He better not botch this hire. He can't afford to strike out again.

Me too. The program isn't in a position right now to wait or take a large risk. Apathy towards the program was a big reason why Capel was let go, if he makes his typical left field hire it won't do much to quell that problem.

Joe's no dummy. He took a big gamble in hiring Capel, and it has blown up in his face. I think enough of him to believe that he has learned from that mistake and won't make it again. I'm not saying we're going to hire a huge name, but I am very confident that whoever we hire will be much more experienced than Capel was.

I think we will be okay. It is obvious we will not go out and over pay. I think after Capel he learned a few things...we need any or all of the below for the right price.

1.someone connected to the region, Capel had too much turnover
2.someone that is connected to the hotbed of talent in Texas
3.someone that has a little more experience in building than capel

BCG and Buzz fit all 3
Pastner fits 1 and 2 but coached under Lute and Cali.

I am hoping Pastner because I think he can put a fun product on the floor that also wins. If he achieves that, LNC can rock like it has in the past. If that is the case we should be able to give raises as necessary to keep him.

With the new conference aligment I think it will be better for the environment at LNC. Getting KU, KSU and MU at LNC every year is a good thing.

We're gonna be fine. Relax. Joe has everything under control.

I look out amongst the coaches and there aren't a large number of candidates available - and there are some good schools looking for coaches.

Quick, decisive action is needed or we could be in trouble.

I think Joe still wants Geno & I think he wants to create some excitement with this hire. I mean this is best chance to jumpstart attendance and a big hire would potentially make the Sooner Channel more lucrative.

Geno?

that would be a fricking joke.

Did you see how he reacted when he was asked about the possibility of hiring a womens coach?

For the record I'm not endorsing the idea.

I'm with you. I think Joe C has made a huge mistake by letting Capel go with no clear replacement lined up. :facepalm

It's not so much that Joe C. can't afford to screw this up....our program can't afford for him to screw this up.

We have been dragged down to the depths, the bottom of the barrel. The headway made by Billy and Kelvin is in serious jeopardy (if it hasn't been lost already). The "new" of our new practice facility has lost it's luster as a recruiting tool.

This hire is huge for this programs' future. I honestly think if he blows this we may never be relevant in college basketball again aside from the once-a-decade flash in the pan.

Coolm I've never been on the BCG bandwagon, but I think now we have no choice. Baggage and all he is the best candidate to turn things around quickly. With recruiting ties and deciplened coaching I think Joe C has to take the risk. Worst case he gets the program back on track but his baggage gets him fired. Best case he joined the Ranks of Tubbs and Sampson.

I agree 100%. He's by far my top choice. There are other "wouldnt mind hims", but he is the one who has the right skill set.

If the program were in a better state I would say we could avoid BCG, but unfortunately we don't have that luxury. Let's make it happen Joe.
