I am really scared that Joe C. is gonna screw this up

ONLY with complete turnover with new talent well above what we have. Absent that you are fruity.

I always forget you know everything. I apologize.

You're really dramatic, by the way.

Just an observation. I enjoy it compared to some of the other posters that are overly predictable.

I love OU basketball and hate what has happened to it since Kelvin screwed it over.

Do you have a point?

My point is that OU was lucky with Blake Griffin. I am not going to praise Capel or Joe C based on Blake Griifin. Blake wascgreat because of Blake not because of coaching or the moves of the AD. Without Blake, Capel was fired a year or two earlier.

In his second year Capel had Blake, Longar and Taylor. That front court should have dominated the Big XII. Under Capel it was one game above .500

That's true. Blake is the man because of his work ethic and the years and years of tutelage of his father and mother. Their work shouldn't be used to bolster Joe C. and Jeff Capel.

Blake made us good, Capel made us bad. Got it.

Yes everybody knows we could have had the town drunk as head coach and still had the same results with Blake on campus.

It is pretty clear Capel could not go .500 in the big xii without Blake. Take out his sophomore only season and Capels conference record is horrible. I did not cost Capel his job. The guy f'd up the program to the point that someone tha personally liked him fired him.

No offense Denver because I like ya buddy but Blake said on numerous times that Capel taught him things and made him a better player. As did Taylor and LL and WW. Not to mention Cade Davis!

Cline was a big reason for BG developing some post moves. He did a great job with LL too.

But when you have a player like BG, the poster above that said the town drunk could coach a BG team is right. He made everyone better, no doubt.

I would be happy if our new staff brought Cline back. Tiny, BG and LL all got better in their post moves.

5 years ago would have been the best time to hire Geno. Now is not the time. The cupboard is bare now. 5 years ago it was'nt. I think we need to act quickly, perhaps before the sweet sixteen. BCG is the best available IMO.

If we get Geno, does Ucon take a run at Cole for spite?

I imagine recruiting women and men would be quite different, but IDK. At least we would have a real coach instead of someone just winging it. He isn't it my top3, but i wouldn't hate it like i would BCG whom coolm has a man crush on.

You are completely overboard.
With the right hire, and a couple of decent players, we will be in the tournament in 2 years.

It's not so much that Joe C. can't afford to screw this up....our program can't afford for him to screw this up.

We have been dragged down to the depths, the bottom of the barrel. The headway made by Billy and Kelvin is in serious jeopardy (if it hasn't been lost already). The "new" of our new practice facility has lost it's luster as a recruiting tool.

This hire is huge for this programs' future. I honestly think if he blows this we may never be relevant in college basketball again aside from the once-a-decade flash in the pan.

This is absolutely correct.

Joe knew what he's doing. I didn't think he will fire Capel but he did. That's a big first step in getting OU back to the excellence the school alway had. He will make a correct choice (BCG hopefully). I listen to the press conference again last night. He stated that 5 years ago he had to do a coaching search after the Final Four, at that time all the other schools had taken up all the coaches. This time around he had time. Also he learned from his mistake, I think this time we will have a solid coach as OU will not play second fiddle to Texas and Kansas the last 5 years.

Well he "screwed up" the last hire and we went to an Elite Eight, a round of 32 and got possibly the greatest player ever at OU out of it.
If you doubled Griffin's point total from his two years he'd still be short of what Wayman did in three.
