He has some good skill.... He can step out and hit that baseline jumper and seems to have all the tools to be a solid power forward at the Big 12 level.

It wouldnt surprise me to see him come back next year in better shape, more prepared to play, and contribute more on the glass and on defense. I could see him being a 8-10 points, 4-5 rebounds per game guy next year as a sophomore.

that would be HUGE for us if that happened...I think he has a nice shot he just needs to work on being more consistent...if he can rebound and hit those jumpers it would open up alot of room for tiny to work

Hopefully he turns into a Bryan Davis type. Both have similar body types, although Fitz needs to lose about 15 pounds.

There is something about Fitz that I like, been that way all year.

I agree and if he goes through with going out to train with Matrisciano he could turn into a beast!

The main issue I've had with Fitz this year is that he just seems "tentative" to me. I wouldn't call him soft, but he almost plays a passive type of game. As mentioned above, I think he could develop into a "service-able" guy off the bench in a year or two. But I don't see him being a major contributor until I see a fire lit under his behind.

Fitz can't play the four and probably will never be able to. He needs to add muscle more than he needs to shed weight, so he can battle and become a better rebounder.

I think pledger needs to take a page from James Anderson and start to expand his game. He needs to start with a pump fake, dribble, mid range game first and just continue to improve on his ballhandling. For someone with his shooting ability and his scouting report, his pumpfake has the potential to be deadly.

Keiton Page would make Bob Knight proud with that pump-fake.

Yea, if he works in the off-season like he would he will come back stronger. I don't know yet about 4 or 5, and I am not sure it makes much of a difference in OU's offense.

Of course, we have seen so many different things I am not even sure what OU's offense is.

Standing around and launching awkward, ill-timed 3's.

Actually, that is the only position he CAN play. If you put him out there at the 5, then you are playing the smallest team in the history of the game. He needs another big out there with him. He is more of a traditional 4 though, so if we are playing a team that plays four guard types, of course he'd struggle guarding them. The same way Bookout, a kid that always played the 4, would have.

Lineup for next yr

PG TMG
SG Cade
SF Cam
PF Fitz
C Tiny

I'm not a big fan of our four guard lineup, we just seem to get beat up on the boards alot. If the other team has four guards on the floor, I say we keep our two big men in the game. Make them matchup to us, not vice versa.

If that is who we start next season, we'll be lucky to make the Dance again.

When Fitz get's his skill set, come talk to me.

When fitz has the ability to guard the fours in this league talk to me. If you're going to put Fitz on the Morris boys, Singletary, Brackins, James Anderson, Bowers, or Gary Johnson, you'd be out of coaching quick.

When I 1st saw Fitz play, I thought B Davis. But now after watching him most of the year, Davis is a lot better athlete or just longer then Fitz is ever going to be. Fitz might be a better shooter tho!

4-5 rebounds per game guy next year as a sophomore.

I recongize that is a reasonable projection and descent stats for a role player PF/C type. However, I don't get why Ray Willis, Tony Crocker and/or Cade Davis seem to be able to play the PF spot and pull down more rebound than these traditional bigs.

I was thinking Fitz could be a Fredrick Jonzen type... 6'8'', not a great athlete, skilled, can shoot jumpers really well, decent rebounder, not very quick, etc. At first I was hoping Fitz could be like Arthur Johnson at Mizzou, but he isnt that type of player.

Jonzen averaged 2 and 3 as a freshman (Fitz averages about 4 and 2)....
9 and 7 as a sophomore...
15 and 6 as a junior...
12 and 7 as a senior...

I am thinking Fitz will have that kind of career, in a similar role as Fred Jonzen for OSU a few years back.

Why do you say that?

I think TMG is going to be an All-conference performer. I think Cade Davis will have a great senior year scoring 10+ almost 100% of the time and averaging about 14 or so. Plus I think Cade is going to be the best defender on the team and one of the better defenders in the league.

Tiny could be a double double guy next year (he is close this year and if he could stay on the court he would be). Fitzgerald has had a nice season and I think he can be a good role player. Get one to two garbage buckets a game, hit one to two jump shots a game, convert one to two TMG perfect passes a game. I don't see 8 points as a stretch for Fitzgerald. He came to OU known for hardwork so I think he will be a respectable rebounder and defender as he matures.

Cam is an impact type/border line McD AA (I know he just missed the cut) recruit so it does not freak me out to see his name in the starting lineup. TMG, Tiny, WW and Blake were all quite productive as freshman (Gallon is probably the least productive and he is averaging 10.4 points a game and 8 rebounds - that is darn good for a freshman).
