I guess the pokes are not happy with Ostate.com

Gotta love when people write indignant e-mails that are rife with grammatical errors:

"I pay the monthly fee to listen to and watch Oklahoma STATE athletics through okstate.com. What I don't pay for is to hear Univ. of Oklahoma radio broadcasts.

I don't want to hear the OU broadcast any more than a North Carolina fans wants to hear a Duke broadcast, a Wisconsin fans wants to hear a Minnesota broadcast or an Michigan fans wants to hear an Ohio State broadcast.

This is a ridiculous mistake and is grounds for serious consideration for cancellation of my subscription (wtf?) as it adds to a history of technical errors related to your delivery of OkState media.

Please correct this error now and in the future.

Thank You."

They can't throw stones about attendance.

No shat on that one. Wow that place has been a ghost town. Now let the excuses come.....the students haven't returned, it's a non con, tix are too much.....blah blah blah but "it's historic" and "it's rowdy" Sure, on certain games.

OSU is so much better in the heads of OSU fans than in reality.

Attendance was very bad, but I would bet their were still 3,000 more fans at the OSU game than the OU game.

I agree that we have no room to throw stones any more.

The serious decline in attendence at OSU basketball games is not a big mystery. The explaination is quite simple.

All it took was the following ingredients:

1. Sean Sutton takes over for Eddie and transforms the program from one of the top 4 in the conference to the middle/bottom. (This is the biggest factor in the decline in student attendence. OSU has nearly an entire class of students pass through without seeing an NCAA tournament-quality team.)

2. The football program significantly improves under Gundy.

3. Holder significantly raises season ticket prices on both football and basketball simultaneously.

4. LOTS of fans are faced with choosing between football and basketball season tickets. Most choose football.

Holder is just now realizing that, while his football season ticket price hikes didn't really affect football season tickets sales, it's had a significant impact on basketball season tickets.

For the first time this year, we're seeing lots of specials and discounts on basketball tickets.

What is number 4?

Prolly the same #4 we have. Competing with the Thunder

D'oh! Messed up the numbering.

The Thunder might have some impact, but I'm thinking it's probably less of an imact when compared with OU, given the proximity to the OKC metro area of the two schools.

I really think that Holder ticket price thing coinciding with the basketball team being thrust into mediocrity by Sean Sutton is the main culprit.

Like I said, I know lots of people who simply decided to drop the b-ball tickets in favor of football only.

The thing I really can't explain is the drop-off in student tickets. The students used to fill both ends of GIA from the floor to the celing.

When you see those shots where the upper deck is nearly empty behind the baskets... those used to be 100% students. It's hard to understand why the students don't fill those any more.

I based that on thinking that i would think more grads would move to the okc area than stay in Stillwater. I could be wrong about that though

From the OSU board from a fan that was at the OSU game...."If there were more than 4,000 people there I'll eat my hat. It looked closer to 2,000. The crowd was pathetic."

If you count Men's and Women's crowds this year....I'm not sure OU has not had more fans...... but if neither team is close to selling out..it's like saying you are the tallest midget.

Yeah, but we also have this other metro area in the state that happens to be home to the largest concentration of OSU alumni anywhere. ;)

I don't know that the very large contingent of OSU fans/alumni in the Tulsa metro are so much impacted by the Thunder being in OKC.

Who cares about the crowds at womens games? I am talking about the men.

I would bet that most every team outside of the top 25 will have a thread on their message board about attendance.
