I still think this guy should be given a chance to get the job

LOL. Guess that makes me "old balls" too.

Hey, Booger. Holladay is my age, and I swear I can't remember much about him during his time at OU. Tell me who some of his teammates were. (Yeah, I know you've washed your hands of me, but maybe you can make this one exception).

According to soonerstats, he played with Don Sidle, Clifford Ray, and Gar Heard. All 3 of which I believe played in the NBA.

Here is the roster for the years he was there:

1967:

1968:

I can't figure out how we were so bad with Sidle, Heard, and Ray on the same team? Too bad my dad is deceased or I'm sure he could tell me.

That certainly goes way back. I have great memories of Heard and Ray, and even Sidle. But Holladay, not so much.

According to the article, he was the team captain his sr. year which is when he played on the team with Heard, Ray and Sidle.

Wasn't Sidle the coach who was hired but died before the season started back in the 70's?

He directly coached Tyler Hansbrough and Sean May as coaching big men was his job. He was Roy's top assistant for a long time before asking to be moved to Director of basketball ops. He also recruited for Roy, but can't tell you which studs he recruited but I'm sure he recruited more than 1 for Roy.

I don't disagree that Holladay may not be a good choice, but I do disagree at your assessment of his experience. If you read the article you would see his experience and what would qualify him to do the job.

I read the article and it's nice propaganda for the program. Of course they are going to make his bio sould like he is all world. I can assure his skills are more suited to running a business (or heck being an athletic director) than a head basketball coach at a major university.

Don't remember that. Could it be you're thinking of Jim McKenzie (sp), who was hired as OU football coach, but died of a heart attack before he ever coached a game? Then the Sooners went out and hired Chuck Fairbanks, and the rest, as they say, is history.

I think that was Lester Lane.

This is ignorant on so many levels. Its really not worth any response.

Doubt Holladay ever takes another job in his career at this point. He will stay with Roy for many reasons some of which are personal. He was not demoted!

I though Joe Halliday played a season with Alvan Adams.

If Terry Stotts came in, I'd say bring Jeff Webster and a known recruiter. I wouldn't even mind pulling Benny Seltzer or Brian Barone away from Indiana. Or Ray McCallum as an assistant. It's like getting the band back together.
