In the early 90s, OSU was 8th in all time Big 8 wins

they don't have better facilities or atmosphere .. gia is a garbage place to watch a basketball game if you are not in the first 15 rows

This.

The view is terrible on TV from GIA, it's the same when you are there. The only good seats are in the first 15 rows. The entire new part they just enlarged it with are just horrible seats at an even worse angle. The view from the top row of the LNC is better than the upper 30 rows (or more) at GIA.

i doubt you will find anyone that thinks the LNC is a better bball arena.

But big sold out game experience comparisons is probably a wash. For me it wouldn't be a big difference. Its all about the fans and game

Please stop with the clown posts. I think the LNC is way better. Hands down.

The LNC can rock with the best of them. At one time it was one of the most difficult places to play in college basketball. Many great teams got their asses handed to them in the place that you think can't compare to GIA.

As I said in my other post, the sight lines are much better. Yes it's a multi-purpose arena but as I said many great players have come into the LNC to play the Sooners and left with their asses handed to them.

The LNC's problem is the fans. Period. If they show up and want to be loud and involved, the place can rock with the best of them. No empty arena is imposing.

i didn't say the atmosphere was better....but if given the choice between the two areas and keeping the fans the same, I would think everyone would choose GIA as the arena to house the sooners.

I'm not one that complains about the LNC either...except for the orange seats

In that case, please, do us all a favor, and don't think. :facepalm

The only Big 12 arena's which I would trade the LNC is Allen Fieldhouse and Hilton Coliseum. That's it.

BINGO! Nail, meet head!

i'd guess the lowest OSU win total has something to do with the Pokes being the last team to join the Big 6/7/8....in 1957. CU joined in '47 to push the conference to 7 members...and then OSU a decade later. lot a less games played....

something like that.

i do agree with the premise that OSU basketball history/prestige is overrated in relation to OU (underrated)....for whatever reason.

Nope, the media guide in the original post says "since 1957."

This. The standings show 32 years of 14 conference games for each school. Hard to believe KSU was ahead of KU.
Up until the early 80s, K-State had more victories in the NCAA Tournament than the Chickenhawks as well. I referenced it HERE years ago.

The going got really rough for Iba when they joined the Big 8. Two winning conference records in 12 seasons of Big 8 basketball. He had one really good team (1965 if my memory serves) but they got their clocks cleaned mostly until Eddie got there. Paul Hansen had one really good team (1983).

And don't let O-State fans kid you for a minute......if Eddie doesn't leave Kentucky in absolute disgrace then there's a really good chance they're still wandering in the wilderness. But he was great for Big 8/Big 12 hoops.

I don't think KU passed KSU in NCAA victories until that elite 8 game in 88. That's what one of the KSU guys tweeted a few days back.
