What will the return of former Douglass and Hall of Fame coach, Phil Ingersoll, do to keep Stevie Clark in school this fall? This appears to be a move that could change his mind about coming out of high school a year early when OU has no scholarships available.

Thoughts from those of you who may be more familiar with Ingersoll and what he will bring to the Douglass program?

He's already eliminated OU so it's really not that big of a deal. Likely ucla or mizzou bound

I'm not the most knowledgeable person on this matter so when did this happen?

I wouldnt say eliminated. I think we are just behind the 8 ball a little. He's 17, things change real fast these days.

If he is going to leave HS early and be a 2012 kid, yes, we are probably out of it. If not, I have to think we have as good of a chance as anybody.

Can't imagine a kid that is as family oriented as Clark wanting to spend 4 years all the way out in California, but maybe he does.

If he is willing to enroll early and eliminate OU by doing so...that shows me that he just wasn't that interested in OU.

I'll be very, very surprised if he goes to OU this year or next. He has UCONN, Mizzou, UCLA, Florida State, and OSU going after him...

The only thing OU has going for them with Stevie is that they offered Deondre for football.

How many times does someone choose OU over those schools for basketball? Not often...
For football...he would be at OU in a heartbeat.

I'll be surprised if OSU gets him but I would love to have him in orange! UCONN, Mizzou, and UCLA are tough competition.

I'm not saying he's going to OU, but OU is a better basketball school than all those schools you listed except UCONN and UCLA. Especially OSU.

Haha...

At best...OU equals OSU.

Based on facilities, fan support, recent recruiting, recent success, and historical success... OSU is slightly better than OU.

And when I say slightly...I mean by a small margin. But let's face it...both programs are in the sewers right now.

OU couldn't get the fan support they needed when they had Blake on campus....that fact right there is scary for any program with hopes of "growth".

When they grow up in OU's backyard? Probably more often then not. I can't remember losing to many state of Oklahoma recruits to UCONN, UCLA, or FSU.

I said 'player' as in general...obviously when someone grows up near the university, it gives that university an edge.

However it hasn't shown much of an edge in the case of Stevie, now has it?
He has eliminated OU as an option right now.

Why talk in general when we're talking about Clark, and he DID grow up in OU's backyard? Obviously I don't expect to recruit a kid from the NE that UCONN wants, but that isn't what we are talking about.

As for Stevie eliminating OU, I'll believe it when I hear him say it. Of course he has "eliminated" us if he is deadset on being a 2012 kid. OU couldn't take him if he wanted to go there (assuming he won't walk on). That isn't really being "eliminated" though, now is it? I still think he stays in school, and if he does, I still think OU has a shot in 2013.

Wrong.

No, not at best. At worst.

That must be why all those recruits are choosing OU over OSU, right? man...that really makes me jealous.

Obviously you aren't going admit to being wrong and frankly, I don't care.

From the 90's to today...OSU > OU.

Facilities are nicer and GIA > LNC.

Although LNC parking is great and there are always open spaces!! Plus come'on...the pump up music sounds so much better with the acoustics in LNC ;)

We will see...the article says he will decide on a school by the end of June.
The article came out after Douglass hired their new coach. Sounds like he is set on playing this year.

OU may have a shot next year but he obviously doesn't like them THAT much if he is willing to enroll an entire year early. It's not like Lon Kruger hasn't put the full-court press on him already...

You keep saying this but have nothing to substantiate it.

The fact that he's considering enrolling a year early even though OU doesn't have a spot for him doesn't mean that he's eliminated OU; it just means that OU isn't his favorite. That's not to say that I think OU is one of his favorites; I'm just saying that you're reading way too much into it. You're acting as if he's already made the decision to leave HS early.

Why do you get to arbitrarily pick a timeline?

And I don't agree anyways about the from the 90's til now.

You don't get to have your own facts.

He is taking courses right now so that he will be able to graduate early.
You think a kid is going to take classes in the summer if he wasn't determined on graduating early?

He has eliminated OU as an option for 2012. The end.

If he doesn't reclassify and graduate early then OU will probably become an option again but he obviously doesn't care that much about going to OU otherwise he wouldn't be reclassifying or taking summer classes. How hard is that to understand?

Last 20 years = recent? IDK
If you do history then OU has 2 more tourny appearances but OSU has done quite a bit more during their appearances then what OU has done. OU has had many 1st round and 2nd round exits compared to OSU.

It really is about the same overall. I give a slight edge to OSU simply because of the future of the program looks better. Recruits have shown they are much more likely to choose OSU over OU. It has happened about 6 times in the past couple of years. That tells me something...

Most recent Final Four? OSU

Argue it all you want but at the end of the day...the programs are about the same. Both have had times of great success and both have had some pretty bad years.
