I didn't watch the game, but reading the stories and looking at the box score it looks like Hield might be our best player, if not Osby. I know we struggled last night, but it's nice to see us struggling AND WINNING with a bunch of freshmen. Exciting to think how good Hield will be for the next 4 years!

He was our best player for abut 5 minutes, but during that time he was unstoppable. He still has the freshman problem of disappearing a bit when he isn't scoring and he doesn't really do much to get other guys involved. At this point I don't think so because he is pretty incomplete as a player, but I wouldn't be be surprised if he was our best player for much of his career at OU.

I think he has the potential to be. The most exciting part of this team is the amount of energy we play with on defense.

Is Hield our best player? Not at this point. IMO, Osby still gets the nod. But Buddy definitely has the potential to be our best player before the year is out.

If you had asked is he the best scorer on the team, my answer would have been, YES. Buddy believes he can score every time he touches the ball. He has already proven he can do it in so many ways, who am I to argue?

Best player? No, but he is probably our best scorer.

No. He may already be our best pure scorer though. That said, everything he is shooting right now is going in. Be interesting to see how he looks, and how he reacts, when those percentages drop back down to normal levels.

There could be some really good guard battles in Bedlam over the next few years. Should be fun.

What is great is that we are having a debate about the best player. Is it Pledger? Is it Osby? Is it M'Baye? Is it Hield?

It really doesn't matter, OU has five or six high quality Big XII level players in Hield, Pledger, Osby, M'Baye, Fitzgerald and Clark. Additionally, OU appears to have two solid freshman that can develope into high quality Big XII player and two solid role players in Neal and Grooms.

I am giving M'Baye the benefit of the doubt at this point. Also one could argue that Fitzgerald and Clark are role players but they are pretty darn good role players and have two years of starting experience so I count them as more than role players.

Denver - I completely agree. The big picture here is that we finally have a roster full of big 12 talent and should be able to really compete int he conference. I think we have a good mix of young talent and experienced talent. We have the foundation there to stay competitive for years to come. I hope it all comes together. WE obviously still need to learn how to finish games, but the season is long and I think we can get there.

To me it's between Osby and Pledger. Osby is the best all-around as evidence by yet another double double, but people seem to forget that Pledger was in the running to be the leading scorer in the Big 12 last year. His first 3 months of the season were ridiculous and now he's a senior.
