I initially thought that the only way they would let Capel go is if they had a plan in place for a big time replacement, at least after this season and not next...but i am losing faith in that preparedness...hopefully i am wrong and the plans are in place with a guy that is left in the tourney...

Buzz Williams-Marquette
Dave Rose-BYU
Thad Matta-OSU
John Calipari-Kentucky
Roy Williams-North Carolina
Bill Self-Kansas
Chris Mooney-Richmond
Shaka Smart-VCU
Leonard Hamilton-FSU
Brad Stevens-Butler
Bo Ryan-Wisconsin
Jim Calhoun-UCONN
Steve Fisher-SDSU
Coach K-Duke
Sean Miller-Arizona
Billy Donovan-Florida

In bold are the ones i think are most likely...so that would leave us with 4 possibilities...I dont know much about Richmonds coach, but i would be fairly content with the other 3 in this order...Buzz/Stevens/Smart/Mooney

Any chances to pull anyone that isnt in bold? First glance i'd say no chance....

The two playing right now on ESPN, Haith and Martin are names you hear getting thrown around.

We have NO chance with stevens, he has a huge buyout and is locked up to 2022. Cross that one off your list.

Do you know what the number is? I know he signed a 12 year extension, but what are the numbers. If he would come, we should throw the kitchen sink at this guy. He is the best candidate out there.

Didn't someone say that Joe C. had all but made up his mind to cut the ties with Capel more than a month ago? If so, I'm sure he had a pretty good idea about which coaches might be available if the job was offered, so it's not like he was starting from scratch. [By the way, I kinow who said it, just don't want to mention the name in case it was speculation on his part and not a statement of fact]

Ada, I heard that too. His decision was made even before Tech. This means e has his guy or top few in mind for a while and is waiting for a season to end. Hoping it is buzz.

Anyone else wish that Chewy would come on here and say that Buzz is coming to OU? No idea who his source is, but my goodness...

If that happened, I'd be the most excited I've been since the UNC EE game. That would be a very hopeful sign that the admin does care about BBall.

Not getting Stevens.
Buzz is a longshot.
Do Smart or Mooney have ANY ties to this region?

If I were to bet, I'd put money on a coach in the NIT.

Chris Collins, Coach K's Associate Head Coach. Unlike Capel, Chris Collins has actually coached at Duke. He could be the sleeper that Joe C is waiting for.
