"Is San Diego State's matchup too good to be true?"

"The point is, you just don’t know in the NCAA Tournament. That’s the catch. Expected stuff happens. Weird stuff happens." - Steve Fisher, about being a whopping 3 point favorite in a game vs. poor, hapless Oklahoma.

This article is garbage. The author is all hyperbole, and the whole idea is that if OU wins, it's only because of some weird, March Madness voodoo. The betting public doesn't seem to see it that way.

I love that we're getting no respect. You don't think Coach Kruger's all over that?

Is this from a legit newspaper or news source in San Diego? It just reeks of freshman style writing.

I've got no problem with this article. It's not like it showed up in the Oklahoman, although it looks like some that have.

This team performed better when there were no expectations of it. Late in the year when they were playing for seeding and all of a sudden the team that was expected to win ballgames they didn't handle it well. I'm sure the coaching staff relishes being the underdog again. This team plays better when they feel like they have something to prove.

Good article with some nice facts IMO.

Sdsu better hope the team that outplayed KU wire to wire, was up 22 @Texas & up 14 vs ISU is not who shows up for 40 minutes tonight. If so we will blow them off the court.

That's what frustrates me the most, our A game is top 15 caliber. We just have to shake the meltdowns.

All of these facts are ridiculous! Especially from an opponents school newspaper, what a bunch of garbage.

That isn't the SDSU student paper, which makes that nonsense in the commentary all the more bizarre.

It's not unprecedented for a San Diego newspaper to take cheap shots. The Union-Tribune there had a columnist (or may still have) who always referred to UNM fotball as "Albuquerque High." So it made it that much sweeter when both Franchione and Rocky Long started beating them.

Agreed 100%.

It's hilarious the lack of respect we're getting in this deal. Granted, losing to TCU didn't help, but it wouldn't have mattered much. The media fell in love with the Mountain West, in what is being shown to be a crock, and therefore, it's a foregone conclusion that we lose to these guys.

Here are some "nice facts": SDSU also went 3-2 in their last five games (he cites this as a negative for OU, but doesn't mention that SDSU had the same record down the stretch).

SDSU went 14-0 in white because they were playing at home (except for one game in the MW tourney), not because of the uniforms.

SDSU played 12 neutral or road games this season, and they went 5-7 in those games. They lost six of their last seven away from home.

OU played 15 neutral or road games this season, and went 6-9. They lost five of their last seven away from home.

SDSU and OU each played six ranked teams this season; they both went 1-5 in those games. Three of those games were at home for SDSU; two of OU's games against ranked opponents were played at LNC.

I was being sarcastic. Who cares what a paper in SD thinks of OU.

Think you meant 2-3, but I actually agree with the author on this though. SDSU's losses were to UNM twice (once in the Pit), at Boise St. (tournament team) while ours were to Texas and TCU and a toss-up game to Iowa State.

Neither team has been that impressive down the stretch, but our losses are a lot uglier.

The neutral/road loses happened on a last shot block by AZ on Tapley going to the hoop for an game-winning layup...spectacular play. The conference loses were all played at altitude...meaning a sea level team (Aztecs) played other teams at their homes at 7000, 6000, 5000, and 4,000 ft in the air...where air is thinner...this is why they call it the Mtn West...after running around for 40 min, it wears on players and their shot selection...we didn't lose to any of those teams (except UNLV) at home.

It's going to be a good game, and I see we are both confident our teams will win.

Wow.

Thanks, I did mean 2-3.

There's nothing to really agree with the author about -- he never mentioned the salient info that SDSU also finished 2-3. Had he, he could then have explained why he felt their 2-3 was better than our 2-3, and then you'd have had something to agree with him about.

But then, here's a writer who touts the role the color of the uniforms will play in tonight's game, so a grown-up, he's clearly not.

Which facts were not accurate? I thought the writer did reasonably well documenting our late season collapse along with Krugers abysmal record vs Fisher.

Edit: I see your sarcasm went right over my pea brain.
