Jeff Capel to Arizona State?

We finally get over the mess that Capel left us with and here we are talking about him. He ran us into the ground and got us on probation. Why anyone would hire him is beyond me.

Gray at Notre dame is doing good. Tommy amaker has had good success to. Capel has had good success.

Amaker was fired at Seton Hall and was it him or Johnny Dawkins at Stanford?

Amaker's had some success at Harvard though.

Doesn't his kid play for him?.Cullen I think...pretty good player..correct me if I'm wrong but once he went down for the year their season pretty much tanked..not sure of his eligibility status...funny you mention Alford as well...was it true he re-upped at UNM then left for UCLA?...didn't realize the media was like that in Lobo land

Cullen got hurt early this past season and will try to get a medical redshirt. He signed with St. Mary's originally before his dad got the head coaching job, and they let him out of his letter there (and also because Bryce Alford bailed on UNM when his dad got the UCLA gig).

Without Cullen Neal and a couple of other injured guys, they went on a horrific losing streak and finished something like 15-17. That may also be a reason why Craig Neal might be looking to land somewhere else.

After Lobogate, UNM hired Gary Colson to come in and rebuild from scratch back in '80. He asked one of the reporters if this guy thought Colson could win without cheating. The reporter basically told him, "No, I don't think you can win without cheating - and yes, I'll be the first to expose you if you do." This was mentioned in a book called "Raw Recruits."

Same group of writers, from what I heard for years, pretty much excused the cheating that went on there in the late 70's, because they liked Ellenberger and because "everyone else does it...."

Anyway, I wouldn't blame Neal if he wanted to bolt, but it sounds like they really want Capel (and I question that judgment, FWIW).

Amaker's had some success at Harvard though.

Dawkins is still at Stanford. He's had some success but I also know that he's got his detractors there because his success has been spotty.

Though Amaker's had some success at Harvard, he was basically run out of Michigan for a lack of success. There may have been some other NCAA issues as well when he was there but I may be misremembering also so don't hold me to that. But his teams did struggle at Michigan before he was run off.

Maybe, but one of those references will be Mike Krzyzewski. My guess is his reference carries a lot of stroke.
