Is this what ESPN is reporting on their Insider deal?
 
Don't know, I don't subscribe to ESPN, but he's not.

That guy is now saying Paster and OU are in talks again, FWIW.
 
yea he's real close with Pastner (i think even said "best" friends at one point). the guy is legit on sources and scoops lots of stuff.

originally he said that JP was open to listening to OU. then it faded away, NOW interest is back on. we'll see. i could dig this and could maybe end up being a better hire in and for the future than Buzz.
 
One thing I will say about Pastner is he is a TIRELESS recruiter. When he was an assistant and Arizona he would hand write mailouts that he would send to a TON of schools in Texas. When I coached in Texas I would get the mailouts and I emailed him one day to ask him a question. He emailed back the same day and we responded quite a bit. He is a very genuine guy and does a good job. Very friendly and very down home type.

I actually think OU fans would REALLY like him....and those that don't like the hire would probably warm up to him pretty quick.

By the way....when he got the Memphis job I emailed him to congratulate him and he took the time to respond to me. Gotta like guys who take the time to do that when they are as busy as a DI head coach is.

The only OU coach I ever emailed was Sampson after hearing him speak at a clinic. He took the time to have his secretary email me back. LOL



I, for one, would really like this hire.

thanks for sharing, this is good stuff. it says a lot about someone's character in how they treat a distant colleague (or total stranger).
 
Pastner or Kruger would have me turning cartwheels. I honestly would take either of them over Buzz.
 
The ESPN article according to Katz says Marquette assistant coaches expect Buzz to stay and Dave Rose will not be going to OU.
 
that article had a lot of "could be" in it. There was nothing definitive. So it really had nothing more to add than anyone on here.
