KU adding Memphis transfer Black

Consistent numbers but they don't blow you away.

Memphis' coaching doesn't blow you away either. Unfortunately for OSU this is exactly what KU needed with all their youth. Add a 5th year guy, who is big, and a bruiser with some skill. So, who's taking second this year?

His numbers don't blow you away but he was a beast down low for Memphis. Self will get him the Withey role where he is a strong defensive force down low and good offensive rebounder. He won't be making 10 foot jumpers but he will get points on put backs and good low post position.

Didn't realize Austin was going back to Baylor. Knew Jefferson was. If they can get any kind of guard play, they might be pretty tough.

Memphis' problem wasn't Black, it was the inability of their guards to utilize their interior game.

Don't know how much better they will be but KU sure will be more talented in 13-14.

It looked like for a few weeks there that OSU would have no challengers in the Big 12. They will now.

A team that came close to losing to us twice, and they were going to waltz away with the league title?

I never thought any such thing.

Is that a shot at our team? I'm confused.

Why would you think that? I'm questioning the hype that surrounds the aggies. You'd have thought they'd had a season for the ages last year, to read some of the posts on this board. The Sooners were a solid but hardly spectacular team last year, and without some home cooking at GIA, we'd have swept the aggies.

Now we're supposed to accept that, prior to ku's recent additions, the aggies were in position to go unchallenged for the 2014 conference title? Sorry, but I don't buy that for a second. Never did.

Yeah...but they lost no one and we lost everyone.

I wouldn't say 'unchallanged' but definitely a favorite to win the league.

Now KU is back to being the favorite even before Black going there. Wiggins made them hurdle us.

The one thing Ford hasn't had since his first year or two is an experienced and talented team of juniors and seniors.

Last season, it was everyones first experience in the NCAA tourny and some of our best players first experience in D1 bball including big 12 POY Marcus Smart.

Yeah, we almost lost to OU twice. But OU had a bunch of seniors and other experienced talented players last year. Don't make OU out like it was some scrub team.

Romero Osby, Pledger, Mbaye, Fitz, Grooms even came on...those guys are guys that know how to play some D1 bball. Can score, defend, and know what they are doing. Add in a few young guards to come out with a solid tourny bball team.

The problem is - OSU was the better team last year than OU by almost all accounts and then OSU loses hardly anything while OU loses half of their team that includes their best 3 players.

OU also doesnt have a great recruiting class coming in. 1 contributor while OSU is ranked in top 20/25 for recruiting class added to the already solidified 8-man rotation that we keep.

Now dont get me wrong - OU will be a solid team again but most likely not at last years level unless someone has a massive unexpected breakout year.

OSU will be at minimum the same as last year if not even better barring major injuries to the big3.

KU however just brought in a top 2 recruiting class including the best HS player since Lebron they are saying.

KU then OSU/Baylor then OU/KSU/ISU/WVU/UT then TTU/TCU

watch for that third tier to determine the 4th and 5th teams to get into ncaa tourny...OU could easily be one of them

Sorry Pokes. Lol

I'm not sure why this is so funny.

1) I think most OSU fans would rather be the 'underdog' with a talented team rather than the favorite
2) OU is going to have to play KU twice as well
3) it's actually good for the league that KU is still good as always while Baylor and OSU return their NBA talented players

I hope you took some Dramamine before indulging in that spin. You must be dizzy.

OSU is probably more talented than KU, but adding Wiggins and Black plus the 6th best player in the country (name is blank, Center).

Saying all that, OSU probably should still win the Big12, but wont.
