Leaving the freshmen guards in the game

Interesting that Coach Kruger let the freshmen work thru the last 5-8 minutes of the game without freaking out and putting Grooms back in for any significant time.

I think it was his attempt to help the kids "mature" and I think it was very wise.

Now, had we blown the game my opinion might be different but I believe the experience they gained last night can only help down the line.

I think Grooms was hurt, but Kruger did this same thing a lot earlier in the season... Letting the freshmen play late in close games to get that big game experience. UTA comes to mind.

Good observation. Grooms may have been hurt in Waco, but this is not the first time that Coach Kruger has "let the freshmen work thru the last 5-8 minutes of the game without freaking out."

I have observed that Coach Kruger never seems to freak out.

Yeah, it was an interesting choice with the game on the line, but it was also a valuable learning experience for our freshmen guards.

I have a feeling that Sam's injury may have had a lot to do with it, because he has not hesitated to bring him in when our opponents are applying full court pressure.

I guess I just missed it somehow, but what exactly was Sam's injury and how/when did it occur?

We really needed Sam yesterday in the 2nd half but Lon knows what he's doing in trying to get these kids to grow up fast. I have no doubt if Sam wasn't really hurt he would have seen a lot of minutes last night.
