I know we already have 10 Trae Young threads, but thought this deserved it's own.

Bill Self got in free, Lon had to pay at the door

LOL - If I was sitting at the door, Lon wouldn't have to pay! Do college coaches get i free like high school coaches do with their OSSAA card (or whatever it's called)?

He's going to OU. KU doesn't need him as bad as OU does. Trae knows picking KU or UK for that matter would be the easy way out.

He would be the man at OU and could take this team back to the FF in 2 years!

Here's a better picture. OSU Coaches Boynton and Evans were also there.

Here is my question for everyone who believes this line of thinking: if one of the best high school football players in the country lived in Lawrence or Lexington, would you think he would be foolish/stupid/misguided if he chose to play at OU rather than KU or UK? Of course not. Now, let me be clear -- I realize that OU basketball is a million miles ahead of KU and UK football, so I am not saying the situations are exactly the same. My point is, a great high school athlete choosing to go to one of the best programs in the country isn't "taking the easy way out" or a sign that a kid isn't up for a challenge.

Having said all that, let me make clear -- I am 100% confident that no one on this board hates KU basketball more than I do, for a variety of reasons. So, I absolutely hope he comes to OU, and KU is the last team I want to see him sign with. But if things don't go our way, I just hope people don't go overboard and attack the kid.

Comparing basketball and football are apples and oranges, in regards to ONE player being able to make an impact. It's NOT EVEN CLOSE actually.

IMO, Durant took the EASY WAY OUT to winning a championship. That logic is much closer to what I was trying to say than your football comparison.

Trae could go to Kentucky and have a great chance of making the final four...but no one would remember who he was 5-10 years from now. Kansas would be a similar situation, though not near the extent of UK.

However, if he went to OU...he would have a HUGE impact from day 1 and could elevate this team to greatness...and could go down as one of the best players ever at OU. And like you said, OU basketball has been DAMN good over the past 30+ years. How many final fours has KU been to the past 30 years?? It's probably not a heck of a lot more than OU.

Trae could achieve greatness at OU and lead them to a final four.

If Trae Young were the #1 rated QB in the country and chose to go to KU...chances are he wouldn't have that big of an impact w/o A LOT of other help. You see...apples and oranges!

I know you said it's not the same, but a better analogy would be like if some kid grew up in LA and went to UCLA instead of ou for football. When you give the ou basketball program its due (top 25 program), then it really wouldn't surprise any ou fan if someone chose to stay home and play at a top 25 program. I have seen many people use this analogy (not lumping you in) and it really grinds my gears. The disconnect many ou fans have with our proud hoops program is shameful.

yeah, Bill looks like he just farted and realized it was bad...Lon is like "whoa Bill, really?"

Ironic Lon and Bill are sitting together but not the osu guys...

Why the hate at Kansas, year in and year out they're the only team with at least shot of winning it all from the big 12

I could give you a doctoral dissertation.

And who cares about the Big 12? Not me. Maybe some Big 8 ties there......but not really.

For me, because I come from a family of KU grads and was exposed to KU basketball from the time I was a very young kid. I was either going to love them or hate them, and as a kid, I chose the latter. I've been to dozens of games in Allen Fieldhouse over the years and I can honestly say that their fans treat visiting fans like garbage unless you sit quietly and bow to KU's excellence. I have tons of respect for what their program has done, but the fans are a joke. Not to mention that they are way too arrogant given the fact that their school is usually awful at every sport other than basketball. Sorry, I know that was a long answer to a short question! :)
