Lon Kruger

Would you be happy if he was the guy?

Yes, 17 post season appearances out of 21 years coaching high major D1 basketball. Not including his first four years as a head coach which he spent at Pan-American.

I can tell you as someone who is around the Pan AM area....getting them to 20-8 is incredible and is probably his best coaching year to date. I'm serious, it's in a crappy city at the bottom of Texas with about 12 fans (hispanic majority that could care less about basketball). It's one of the most isolated D1 schools in the country (not researched)...4 hours from San Antonio and about the same to Houston.

When he took over at Florida, they were bottom of the barrel in the SEC. It was by far the worst program in the conference.

When he took over at UNLV, it was in sad shape as well.

The guy can coach and he's still got 10 years or more in him.

So you're saying Edinburgh isn't a nice place? Who knew?

gawd....we don't want or need some dude on his last fricking leg looking to round out his golden years with one final run of moderate success.

pathetic

He would be a better hire than the mid tier program dudes, and an obvious upgrade for OU.

Exactly who do you want? Bruce Pearl and BCG are not valid options.

You have complained about every possible candidate to this point. So, who exactly do you want?

you don't think a dude named Buzz drinks alcohol? Bob Stoops owns a string of bars across this state.

Yeah, but not publicized all over the police blotters. I drink myself on occasion, but only idiots drink and drive...how many times was it?

I have no problem with the fact he drinks alcohol.

I say he's "not a valid option" because he just signed with Tech last week. If Joe had wanted to hire him, he would already be hired. That ship has sailed and for anybody to waste time and space typing or saying his name as a valid option at this point is really wasting their finger movements and/or breath.

1. both of those first two WERE valid options. what you said is not fact.
2. I have championed a few candidates so your point about me complaining over every choice is also a lie. I seem to remember spending 2 weeks beating a drum over Shaka Smart.
3. Shaka and Tad would BOTH be better choices than Lon Kruger. Lon Kruger has less appeal than that ugly singing chick from Scotland.

I mentioned Kruger earlier in the year over on LT.com when the first "Who would you replace Capel with" threads came about.

IMO he is a better choice than any of the currently mentioned candidates, because he knows how to build/rebuild programs. Everyone else seems to have stepped into an already rolling program.

He could give OU between 5-10 good years then we can go from there. He would be a fantastic hire.
