Looks like Mizzou may have its guy

Patiently waiting for Boca's feelings about the Haith hire.

Edit: It's right above mine. A little disappointed I did not laugh hysterically when I read it.

Capel's OU program did die a slow death. Almost nothing positive happened for OU after the end of the 2008-09 season. It's not belittling the program to point that out.

I wasn't talking about that. In fact, that was the point where I generally agreed.

I was talking more along the lines of where I can see how posters may have thought you were disparaging the OU program when you were saying every candidate was turning them down (which wasn't true).

My theory (or maybe prayer) on Haith is that Mizzou does have a guy, and it's definitely not him. The guy we have doesn't want his name leaked and this is just a cover to help him get through the night/early morning hours to give him time to meet with his team before his name gets out.

You might be right still, but I've been seeing a few reports saying Haith is the guy. I honestly would like to know Mizzou's rationale for this hire (if indeed true)... This is bad to say the least.

I can't even think of a comparable situation to this. This would be like a few years back if West Virginia or somebody had went out and hired Jim Wooldridge.

Yeah, this is so bad if true. And regarding the immense talent that is flooded around the Miami area, I wouldn't have been shocked to see Wooldridge perform better than Haith if Wooldridge was there for 7 years. No excuse to never have a winning conference record with all that talent in South Beach. I honestly don't know what Mizzou is thinking.

I love having fans from other schools here. HoHum, OSUjeff, Dignon, and a few other OSU fans are very good posters, and have been around for a long time. TripleFatty and SYS are excellent, as are Cheno/Grace. DFW is very good as well. Although Cheno and Grace have kinda got run off by a select few who didnt want them around.

I wish we had a fan like Sawyer or one of the OSU guys from every team in the league posting here regularly.

We just need a Tech, A&M, UT, and ISU fan to make it happen.

When they asked me to help them create this board a few years ago, I went around to the other fan sites and tried to get people over here, but didnt have much success. Maybe I will try again before the season starts this year.

I agree. I think this is a really nice Big 12 discussion board at times. We seem to have been largely fortunate in having really courteous, generally reasonable, and active members of other Big12 fan bases. I know some (see: few) people think it hurts the integrity of our board as an OU board, but I think getting other fan bases opinions on their team and ours is great.

EDIT: also if that Haith hire is true then I am very very confused

If Frank Martin leaves for the Miami job....

would've been better off giving it to melvin watkins.

I agree an disagree. This doesn't need to be OUPropaganda.com, but it shouldn't bs Big12Basketballfans.com either. This is an OU site.

I'll support Haith at Mizzou until he proves he can't win here, but I really don't get this hire.

If you go back to his pre-Miami days, he had a really nice resume as a major conference assistant. He's signed six McDonald's All Americans as an assistant (four at Texas, on at A&M, one at Wake Forest like 20 years ago). Maybe he just needs the right fit. Miami isn't really known for basketball.

Seems like a pretty huge risk to take.

Just saw a dude on tigerboard compare Haith to Gene Chizik. Sounds good, if Mizzou has a freakish stud ready to come in for the low low price of $200K.
