According to this ESPN update (premium)

Also worth mentioning is that OU is the only one of the 4 willing to offer (at this time) his teammate Phil Forte, a 5'10 combo guard that is a great shooter. This could play a big factor in Smart's recruitment since he is so team orientated and I know Forte and him are close.

Which also is reason why OU is in the top 4. Take his teammate out of the equation let's see where OU stands. I'm not against it but I am realistic.

Sam I think you would die and go to heaven if Marcus ends up a Sooner. And based on reports of his extremely competitive nature, I think he would be a huge get. Let's make it happen Lon, Steve, Lew, and Chris.

Sam, who else is in Smart's top 4??? KU, UK, OU, and....????

Another reason is that he is just a fan of OU, he has a publicly noted man crush on Blake Griffin, that's not going to hurt our chances either

North Carolina, Texas and Kansas are the other schools in on smart

KsSooner, thats Juluis Randle who is a big fan of Blake from what I've been told.

FWIW, I dont think Smart thinks about college a whole lot, so I think he's wide open at this point. I think the concept of playing with a good friend is one of the reasons OU is in but I also think he'll stay close to home, and Norman is the closet of all 4 of those schools to Flower Mound.

My bad, got recruits mixed up... However, since he potentially would sign with us to play with his good friend and he would probably be NBA ready pretty quickly, how soon do you think he would stay?? 2 years at most??

Smart is a 4 year type in my mind, he's not athletic enough or good enough of a shooter to be a 2 and done type in the NBA. I also suspect his family would value education as well and since I can't see him going lotto I dont think he would leave.

From what I've watched of Smart he screams cornerstone of a program as he will be a four year player and leader who brings it every day in practice and in games. To turn back the clock, he's the type of player Kelvin Sampson would absolutely love.

4 year player with the skill and hype of Marcus Smart......with Kruger and Hensen and Lew to coach him into a better, all-around player... I like that sound of that

Oh you mean the days when our biggest problem was not being able to win in the NCAA tournament... I miss those days...

I guess you missed the final four and elite eight years, and the sweet sixteen years...

You must miss a lot of days...
