M'Baye named Preseason Big 12 Newcomer of the Year

Ro is a better rebounder and defender. I think his offensive game will expand bc I think he has the skill. He might not have McGhee's post game but Ro can knock jumpers at a good rate out the the 3 line. I agree his numbers might not go up that much. I think he won't have to play as many minutes due our depth but I think he will be more efficient when he is out there.

I think you are underestimating Ace with your first comment above. While I'd never consider Ace a stud defender, I certainly never considered him to be anything less than average to good. Not sure I'd call Ro better than that. Ace averaged 7.7 boards per game his senior year, on a good rebounding team. Osby averaged 7.3 last year, on a weak rebounding team.

As for three point shooting, again, not comparable. Ace was a legit three point option. That was a pretty big weapon for his OU teams. He made more threes both his junior and senior seasons individually, than Osby even attempted last year. I just don't consider their range to be on the same level at all. Ace looked like a guard out there shooting. Osby looks like a big man that shoots them solidly, for a big man.

Just my take. I like Osby, but I don't think he'll have stats that wow you this season, because of the influx of talent, and the fact that LK isn't like Kelvin, and isn't going to let 2-3 guys do most of the heavy lifting. LK will spread things out, which will hurt Pledger/Ro/M'Baye all in the stats department.

I'm not comparing Ro as a JR to Aaron as a SR. I'm saying based on Ro's JR season compared to Aaron's JR season it is reasonable to say Ro could have similar production as a SR. If you remember, McGhee was generally considered soft, a poor defender and rebounder coming out of his JR year. I don't think you can say that about Ro.

I'm just saying Ro has range to the 3. I don't expect him to be that kind of threat. You misunderstand. I do think he will be as productive a player, not necessarily as a scorer. Similar impact maybe is a better way to say it.

If I had to describe RO after his Junior year it would be high end athlete with a solid motor and average offensive presence that has range to keep you honest.

If I had to describe Ace after his Junior year, it would be limited athlete with a fundamentally sound offensive game inside and out and average defensive presence.

When Ace got help, Ace got better.

RO is getting help, we will see if he gets better.

I'm not necessarily comparing their games. I'm comparing impact or production. Denying points by defending your ass off and rebounding is as productive as scoring points.

I agree. Hopefully adding another guy [or two if Bennett is up to it] that is physically able to do that will give RO more opportunities to contribute elsewhere. RO is going to give you the effort, that is why if I was going to have a roster of 13 players from the B12, he definitely would be on it.

Osby has the potential to be a really good player for Oklahoma. He probably doesn't have quite as high of ceiling as M'Baye. But, he could out stat M'Baye this season.

They don't just get out there and play street ball. They run Kruger's stuff. With more options to attact a defense, as WT said, production will probably get spread around alittle more. M'Baye has better range and is more likely to show up in transition. But, I still wouldn't be surprised if Osby came up big this season.
