Michelle Voepel - Top Candidates to Replace Sherri Coale

So, it's either DJD or we are striking out everywhere....?????????

Think its starting to show just how much OU doesn't care

Sherri retired a week before Lon. Men’s coach announced today. Crickets on the women’s job. Somebody should ask Joe about his commitment to excellence for the women’s program.

OU could have reached out to Harris and Langley and both said no... DJD could still be in consideration, hopefully we will find something out by next week. Mandy is already transferring to Idaho state, I would hate to lose others because they don’t know who they will be playing for...

How would you do two coaching searches simultaneously when the season isn't over yet?

If we had already hired a women's coach, people would complain that the men's program was being short-changed.

Joe C. may decide to just elevate one of the assistant coaches and be done with it. :ez-roll:

If he can't get a good coach to take the job, Joe has only himself to blame for letting the program deteriorate so much.

Amen to that. That's why you don't get your honey where you get your dough if the rumors are true.

But if he did he needed a raise for keeping his staff what they wanted.:o

Joe spent 3-4 of last few days in Chicago getting the men's coaching job completed. It tells me that he knows who he was going to hire with the women but could not do it until they finished playing.

I feel so bad for those players. They deserve better than this.

How would you do two coaching searches simultaneously? If you tried to do them both at the same time, you wouldn't do either one justice.

Internet chatter suggests that OU women’s basketball is a bit of an afterthought... someone said OU reached out to Close in the middle of last week, sorta sounds like they wanted Langley and after she didn’t give a answer they moved on, sounds like they don’t have a choice at this point...

Sherri Coale retired March 17 and Lon March 25. Joe C. had a week to identify, contact and negotiate with the WBB candidate before Lon even announced is intent. I have to think Joe C. got multiple rejections that first week as with technology today he had multiple resumes on his desk by March 19 plus the replacement list every AD keeps for every head coaching position.

This is the kind of crap that happens when you let a decade of crappy coaching, recruiting and play destroy a program -- not to mention a possible/rumopred personal relationship.

He knew about Sherri retiring before Lon so why wouldn’t you expect to have a women’s coach before the men’s?
