Mike Anderson to Arkansas?

I was told monday that it was a done deal with him to Arkansas and none of these reports tell me otherwise...probably just working out a deal and he is using Missouri for some leverage...

Mike Anderson (IMO) isn't even that good of a coach. $2.2 million per? Wow.

I will believe it when he's standing behind a podium in Fayetteville.

Behind the podium may be too soon...remember the fear in Altman's eyes when he tried to call the Hogs? You might wait until tipoff. :D

Mizzou fans have almost reached meltdown status. They have become soured with Anderson and his dealings with other jobs so if he stays he's going to have a vocal minority against him. Reminds me of when Kelvin was caught negotiating for the Illinois job after he had already negotiated for 3 or 4 other jobs.

Gottlieb was on the Animal yesterday ripping Dean for saying on Saturday that Anderson was going to Arkansas. Doug said this was all a ploy by Anderson's agent to get him a raise, and that Dean is obviously not that well connected because Anderson never intended to go to Arkansas and there was no chance of it ever happening.

I am surprised he would actually leave seeing how mean they were to Nolan.

It appears Gottlieb was wrong on mike anderson. He was right about Capel getting fired.

According to the article written by Katz, Nolan stated the administration at Arkansas is not the same as the one he worked for and they see that as a positive.

Broyles was a racist, and that's really the only way you can say it.

Didn't Broyles hire Nolan??? Didn't he also hire Heath? He COULD be a racist, but he could just as easily developed a disdain for Nolan himself regardless of his race.

He did hire Nolan, but the Arkansas fans and administration was very divided over the Nolan hire. Once he started winning they liked him, but everybody likes a winner.

Broyles never supported Nolan and was actually quite mean to Nolan a number of times. Now, Nolan was an abrasive figure so he may have brought some of that on himself, but nobody really knows.

I don't remember if Broyles hired Heath. I think by that time, Broyles had handed some of the admin stuff to his underlings and he was really just a figurehead. I do know he was heavily involved in the Nolan firing though.

My wife's family are all big Arkansas fans. I will ask her family about this...her uncle is someone who would know. He's a die-hard Arkansas fan...

I'm not saying your wrong AT ALL. I just hate the use of the race-card especially when the guy hired him. Maybe they're both jerks...

You are right. I shouldn't loosely throw the term "racist" around.

I've never been a Broyles fan. From my view, which was 400 miles from Fayetteville when Broyles was in charge, he came across as a racist. I also formed this opinion from reading about Broyles when he was the coach and later as the AD.

I could probably say the same thing about Nolan, because he came across many times the same way (as a racist). Maybe neither are racist, but just really abrasive.

How Nolan and Broyles worked together for as long as they did is amazing to me though. Both seem like they would be difficult to deal with.

Race is not a card and this situation is not as simple as you make it. There are multiple decisions that you have to make with coaches. Does a guy get a 4th year or not when things aren't going well? Does he get a two year or a 4 year extension? These decisions can significantly be influenced by who you are dealing with and what race they are amongst other factors as well. The fact that he hired Nolan is not definitive proof of much of anything.

And I can say the opposite too. The point is NO ONE knows what Broyles was thinking...
