Is something going on with Steely and Lump and the Sports Animal?

They have been off the air for about two-plus weeks now and that seems like a long time. Had some different guys on there this AM and it got me thinking.......Did I miss something?

Yes. You missed a lot. Basically, there is a new Sports Talk radio station in OKC. They poached a lot of "talent" from the Animal. The Lost Ogle has details on the whole thing.

Who all is leaving the Animal? Outside of BBJ, I don't think there is anyone worth taking. He and Toby Rowland are the only guys I enjoy listening to.

Its owned by the same folks. WIth the THunder popularity, they are planning on doing some national stuff. Going to move some of the good guys over to the national one.

I don't believe it is owned by the same folks.

And there is nobody around that is worthy of a national show unless they got Gotlieb on board

Tyler Media does not own the Sports Animal.

You folks crack me up!

We are getting a competing sports talk station to the Animal and KREF.

They are going on the flagship OU football station, I'm excited but scared they may fail, I thought the format on KOMA was good until they flipped it to news talk.

I wonder if any of the KREF 'talent' will move to this new station. I would expect Toby to jump.

seems like now with two stations they have spread out the crapiness instead of concentrating it to one station. Not sure what I will listen to. maybe neither

So when is the change actually happening? KXRO still shows classic rock on their website and nary a mention of a format change - at least from what I can see.

they are already duel casting on 107.7 and 104.5 in less than a week 107.7 goes all sports ..

Toby isn't going any where, no one on KREF is going anywhere. I do know they wanted to get a few people from there, but contracts and loyalty plus looking at the talent they have at the new station isn't going to make a whole lot of people jump.

I think the new station struck out on a bunch of people they wanted to bring over there and they are now scrambling.

I find it humorous that folks are referring to local sports talk radio host as "talent".
