NBA- OU players and general (this thread only)

I'm not an NBA guy, though I heard about the big trade. Why is AR not long for LA?
Luka and Lebron both need the ball to be at their best . (and they are 2 of the best to ever do it) because of that AR's skills are a little bit duplicated and he is not a Plus defender .. and he has massive trade value right now .. (likely the highest it will ever be because he has been playing great and is on a Great contract)

this assumes that Lebron is bought in with this trade (no reason to think otherwise) but if LA has 2-3 more years of lebron + luka trading AR for a big or a 3 and D wing makes the Lakers better and AR is super valuable to a team like the Rockets for instance .. he would be a massive PG upgrade for them ..

Everything you said makes a lot of sense, but I'm unsure if they will move AR. If LBJ is taken off the roster in a year or two, I believe he and Luka can play together. Everything I'm seeing is still saying the Lakers have finalized a deal for Turner in Indy, with Hachimura, Vincent, and some other pieces leaving.

Luka is a generational talent, but I don't know if his longevity will be in the same class as Magic, Kobe, LBJ... It's being reported Dallas was fed up with the lack of concern for conditioning, and other things. Maybe playing with LeBron for a year will show him the level of commitment it takes to maintain greatness. I'm not super excited about the trade for the present, but I believe it was made with the post-LBJ roster in mind. I also don't think the Lakers are finished. The frontcourt was already shaky, now it's a huge weakness. Jaxson Hayes and Koloko aren't starting centers on a playoff team. If AD stays healthy, I believe he will shine in Dallas. Their rim protection will be next level, and he can play the 4 all the time.

There's also a story circulating in LA that says the Lakers Management grew tired of LBJ and AD constantly going public with roster complaints. They asked LBJ to keep the conversation in-house and stop saying anything to the media. Of course they weren't going to trade him, and he had a no-trade clause anyway. When AD recently complained about playing center and wanting to play the 4, apparently management was furious. Reports say Dallas approached LA about the trade, but the story says LA wanted to break up LBJ and AD....

man, i feel bad for luka. mavs f’d him over beyond belief. i don’t buy any of the excuses from nico harrison. this is ownership going cheap and i buy the theory they want to destroy the mavs and move to vegas. none of this makes sense for the mavs. none.

A lot of smoke out there, Boulder. With the Adelsons involved....all of this seems a little fishy.
I still cannot believe this trade. The amount of money the Mavericks just slipped out of Luka's pocket makes my head spin. I don't follow the league as closely as I once did since my team no longer exists (go Sonics), but negating the kid's ability to sign a Supermax.........whoo boy !!

His Supermax was gonna be about 350 mil over 5 years. Maybe he'll get around 230ish now over 4 years. That doesn't include California income taxes.
I was wrong he is going to make 6mil +/- less .. with the Lakers and then the extra taxes

5 for 345 extension with dallas that would have been starting in 26 season ..

with the Lakers it will be 339,566,430ish starting in the 26 season ..

it just becomes 2 different contracts ..

NBA “people” hate Trae.hate that he doesn’t get more respect.

Cade finally healthy and playing really well
Do you know why? Is it his dad? I saw a discussion about how he keeps getting snubbed for awards. I really wonder what the beef is with him.

I think a lot of why Trae doesn't get recognition is that Atlanta as they are now are just so irrelevant.
