NCAA investigating SMU

Wonder if there's any chance Shake reopens his recruitment? Is he a verbal commit or has he signed a LOI?

If he did would we have a ship to give?

Even if there was a ship available, do we really want to take a chance on a kid who shunned an OU offer to go to a school that is now under a NCAA investigation? Not saying Shake is guilty of anything. But, what if he is?

I say, forget Shake. We already have James and Odomes on the way next year and Pritchard in 2016. In other words, we don't need him anymore.

IF he was guilty of anything I totally agree Ada. IF he's not and wanted to come play for us I would hope we could make that happen (the right way of course no scholly pulling elsewhere) you can never have to many good players multiple quality guys competing against each other for playing time is a great thing IMO look at Kentucky, Duke, etc

Also I have a growing fear that something is up with Booker and he may not be with us long term.

Amen to that! I say good riddance. If he didn't want to come here, then I don't want him here!

There's a reason he was our top choice. We need a talent upgrade, and he offers that. Obviously you have to do your due diligence, but if he's clean you take him in a heartbeat.

If he's not guilty of anything I would easily forget that he didn't choose us. I also agree with Price that Booker could be out, clearly speculation no evidence I have at all.

I think we'd take him in a heartbeat as long as he's not the reason for the investigation or has done something wrong. We are obviously in desperate need of good PG play. Not saying JW cant get it together but he has been in a season long slump and has me worried it's not going to end any time soon.

Question would be then, if we did get Shake, would that affect Pritchard's commitment or is Shake a one and done kinda guy?

IMO, shake is not going to ever be an impact D1 player. He is a good kid, but he is not nearly as good as advertised. I hope we save that offer for someone with some real potential to be an impact guard.

Have you seen him play in person?? If so, how many times? I recently saw him put up 50 pts in a game. I think that's pretty good myself.

This is just silly to say. Shake has shown that he is skilled and consistent against all levels of competition. He would be a starter next year if buddy leaves.

I know there are others on this board that would agree with you but I just don't get it. The kid has size, range, vision, I think he's going to be very good. He doesn't floor you with his athleticism which is why I think some are down on him.

You don't have to leap out of the gym to be a dominant college player. Adam Morrison, Jimmer Fredette, countless others. Personally I'm not betting against Shake.

That said I'd probably lean toward Pritchard if forced to choose but not by much.

I've seen him play in person about 5 or 6 times, dating back to around this time last year. He's a great oklahoma high school player, don't get me wrong. I just don't see him currently having the skill set or athletism to play the point at a high level. And yes, he wants to play PG in college... He also does not seem to have the frame to support more muscle, which I believe he will need at the next level. If you have watched him in person, you should have noticed that he doesn't have the quickness with the ball that should really stand out in high school ball.

He also currently scores most of his points from the free throw line. Which is and isn't a good thing. He knows how to get to the line (+). But he doesn't seem to score well outside of transition or open 3's (-). He will not be able to create very well with the ball at the next level, book it. Screen shot this and please post it 3 years from now if I'm wrong.

Chris Crawford from victory, whom I have zero ties to him or Victorty, is the much better D1 PG prospect. He has better quickness, handles, frame, vision, and arguable is just as much of a threat to score. Chris outplayed Shake two weeks ago, although if you look at just points, you would disagree. ORU got a steal with Crawford, he will be a 4 year starter there, which I agree isn't saying much, but he is better.

Shake is overrated. He's a good kid, and if he ends up at OU, I sure as hell hope he proves me wrong. But, I don't see it. I've followed national recruiting for a long time, and have seen the best of the best out of Oklahoma high school over the last 10 years.

OU needs Booker to stay. Four year roll players are exceptionally important to a team. I would love to see Booker as a consistent 3 point shooter next year and possible starter after that.

In terms of pure point guard play, Shake would not start over Pritchard. They are a year apart, but Pritchard would be the PG when he gets here. He is also the better all around player. Pritchard wants to be a Sooner....as far as I'm concerned he already is. Shake is a Mustang!
