Needed....new football coach!!

LET'S GO!!!

Sounds lime Lebby will be coming as OC as well. If we keep Caleb, I think we are much closer to #8 than we were 2 weeks ago.

Maybe but I think Lebby is a candidate for HC job at Louisiana

I'm happy for the Venables hire, but I have one request, and one question I hope the reporters will ask (but probably won't).

Request: Please, please hire a defensive coordinator and do not take both roles. I had the same request 5 years ago on the other side of the ball, and obviously did not get my wish.

Question: Brent, prior to Clemson winning their first National Championship with you as d-coordinator, you were on record as saying it was easier to recruit great players to Clemson than OU. Why is it easier to recruit to a top 15 all-time college football program than it is to a top 3 all-time blue blood college football program?

Did he really say that? If so, i'd guess it's because of a number of things. First, is the Clemson money-laundering mega-church real? Second, they have boo koos more players in their immediate vicinity than OU. Third, related to the first one, compliance. Does Clemson allow more shenanigans in recruiting than OU? Wouldn't be hard not to. OU's compliance self reports pasta helpings. Other than that, makes no sense. Over all time OU is much better than Clemson..

He said it...and I think your "compliance department" comment is the correct answer to the question...though would be curious how BV would answer that question. Keep in mind that BV's defensive recruiting classes from 2007-2011 were mediocre at best. Who were his best recruits? Tony Jefferson? Travis Lewis? Aaron Colvin? All good players, but we're not winning any national championships in the SEC if that's the gold standard.

Not trying to be defensive of Venables, but when he was "Co" and was much more involved in position specific recruiting(LB) he was much better. I think i've heard as the full time coordinator you are less responsible for recruiting. Plus the program over all under Bob didn't recruit as hard towards the end. It is what it is.

Back then coaches were more worried about their golf handicap

I would hope that he at the least hire a special teams coach! :o

USC offensive line coach going to Washington State.

Is Bedenbaugh staying at OU?

How awesome is it to have 2 energetic guys leading OU bball and football!

The fact that Lincoln took almost his entire defensive staff with him shows he didn't have what it takes for #8. It would have made more sense to start completely over from scratch. Other than Cain, it looks like we will retain every above-average coach we had.
