New ARENA as part of entertainment District

I'm confused. If it's not even guaranteed to happen, why post about it on Soonersports.com as though it were a done deal? I think it's crucial we get a new arena, wherever it may end up being, if we want to continue to improve the program and improve recruiting efforts. I haven't been to Lloyd Noble in a while, but everything I've heard lately indicates that it's rundown and dated, and I'm assuming the recruits notice this as well. What do those that have been recently think? Last time I attended was around 2015.

it was passed and a "done deal"
.. until a group of confused/disgruntled/hateOU/hategrowth/hateprogress people gathered votes (using lots of lies and half truths) to force a vote that would overturn the city council decision ...

that vote has been scheduled .. ..

however .. there is a challenge to the wording on of their challenge petition ... and that will go to a judge to decide .. and that has not happened yet so the vote is likely to be postponed ... and ... if the judge finds issue with the petition .. the vote might not happen at all ...

and it would again be a "done deal"

Is any of that going to delay the start of construction? Whenever that is..

If the new mayor has anything to do with it, this will NEVER happen if public funds are involved.

If the UNP project doesn't happen, then OU basketball may as well shut down. No decent coach will want to work in a community that doesn't want major college athletics to succeed.

There's someone on the OKCTalk board who alluded that if the UNP deal fails, look for the Chickasaw nation to partner with OU to build a new facility where the LNC is located. That would be the best outcome. I'm not at all sold on the UNP idea for a myriad of reasons.

i think a new arena by riverwind (aka not in norman ) would be more likely . if the tribe is involved .. (there has been talk of that )

Probably what they should have done from the beginning. Would have had a new arena broken ground by now. Just make it an actual basketball arena and not a multipurpose/bomb shelter LNC is.
