New ARENA as part of entertainment District

The city despises the University of Oklahoma and growth in general. If it had gone to vote, it would have failed. I get that ideally everyone thinks that's the way it should go. If the people don't want it, then it shouldn't happen. But as a business, they had another option that served their interest and they took it. It was a calculated move. I have always liked Norman, but hate it at the same time. It despises growth. It has no idea what it wants to do. Its the third largest city in the state, but thinks it can stay a sleepy do nothing college town.This idea that it should ALL be private is also a joke. Seeing other cities pass us by makes me irate. If it goes to vote and the people vote agaisnt it, I might finally move.

Unfortunately this is true. They love to grandstand about the new Homeless Shelter, but shun anything that actually leads to growth.

I heard Denny say the arena would be starting the build in 2 years and players would be playing in it in 4 years, but I have a feeling that nothing is certain yet and that's why they have not broken ground. If this does not come to fruition and falls through I think the program will suffer for it. We need upgraded amenities for these kids in order to be competitive with every other program that's building new arenas across the country, or have better arenas than we do. Don't know what the solution is besides this entertainment district

On the bright side, we're already missing the tourney essentially wvery single year anyway as-is. Can't real get worse unless Denny gives porter 20% moser another Joe castiglione extension..
