New Coach

I'm curious why the fan support is such an issue. I honestly don't know so I'm curious what you guys think. When I was there, I had season tickets and went to every game. I currently live too far away to get to every game otherwise I'd be there regardless of the team success or quality of venue. Apparently I'm in the minority. Are there just not a lot of OU college basketball fans that live in the area? Students don't care? Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I felt like it was a pretty good home court advantage a while back.

Just caught part of Curry Hicks Sage's Twitter Space tonight. Not sure how long he'll keep the recording up. At about 1:10:00 of the Space, he's asked about OU. He says his source has told him that OU has the money lined up to buy out Porter. He mentioned he had been told the same thing that showed up on Trilly's Discord: that if OU got drilled by Florida, a firing might be imminent. He didn't want to report it because it sounded farfetched.

Curry likes Ross Hodge (North Texas) a lot, and thinks he'd be a good fit at OU.

Hodge is 44, and doesn't have much experience at UNT. He seems a little bit questionable.

I feel like OU could go either way on the Porter Moser decision. While we'd all be shocked if he returned next year, I could see a case for it. If Joe C thinks this new NIL rule will provide more MBB money for Porter to upgrade the roster and they really think he's a great coach that just needs more money for players, they may elect to keep him and spend money on players. Or maybe they're happy not making any changes because they know they're not going to invest financially in MBB so just let it be. My personal opinion from watching the games and understanding the game, I don't have confidence moving forward with him. Nice guy, brings energy. Not making coaching decisions that are putting us in position to win and we continue to repeat the same mistakes game after game, play after play that cause us to lose. Not fixing things is terrible coaching.

I am way more plugged in with basketball but I can promise you the JJF/SL promotion was 100% Brent's recommendation.

Yes, Joe Castiglione lets his coaches decide their own fate. Castiglione didn’t even want Lebby but Venables rightly did. If you want proof, take a look at the embarrassing anti-Lebby posts Joe c jr had, while Lebby was operating the only good part of the venables era to this point.

A new coach won't fix the problems at OU. The problems begin at the top, and that person is an inbred buffoon who keeps giving coaches raises and extensions just because.

Seems a little harsh and unwarranted. I agree Joe C. should be on the hot seat though.

This is why OU fans are never happy. They think coaches would leave places that are infinitely better than Norman is right now in basketball because we are OU. Baylor is a far better program in the last 15 years than OU has been. The NBA is better than OU will ever be.

And yet we’ve had 3 hall-of-fame coaches the last 40 years. Tubbs, Sampson, and Kruger. It amazes me that the basketball program at OU is held in higher esteem outside Sooner world than inside.

That is exactly right....because of football, imo. No matter how good they are, they will always be down on the food chain for OU fans.
