New job for Terry Evans

Not true. He grew tired of these funding basketball received at UCO. Especially when it pertained to travel, scolarships and then facility.

They AD, an OSU guy was out for him too.

He has to find some way to spread the truth. The rumor going through some circles is that he got in some trouble at UcO.

He didn't even get to be a finalist for the Jenks job but that might have also been they heard he only wanted a HS job for 1 year.

All that being said, his resume is pretty good. For Jenks to turn down a guy that has won State Championships, been a college assistant, and is the all time winner at the 4th largest university in the state says more about Jenks than it does about Terry.

It is true. Take it to the bank. 45 min practices and no scouting reports on the other team get you in trouble.

I don't disagree but I think Jenks wanted a guy for more than a year.

That being said Terry's reputation in the coaching circle has taken a hit. I am glad he got the North job because his son was going to be in a weird position this year. They were back at ESF but he was not going to be allowed to be on the team. This gives him somewhere to play without having to move for a 3rd time in a year.

I think Terry is a good coach he just has some bad things being said about him in the AD and coaches circles right now. Some schools that have been in trouble before cant take chances I.e. Jenks.

Terry's repuation hit is his fault. But it's busch league for the ESF coach to not allow his son to play because of the dad.

It was supported throughout the school. I'm not there so I just report what I hear.

That being said that decision was being applauded by many. Kids are bouncing around looking for the best place too much now in OkC.

Disagree here as well. The same coach that was blasted and ridiculed by Curan Scott's dad. ( among others) and then proceeded to go further than Scott's new team. What's wrong with a coach that controls his program.

Some kids are cancer. NOT SAYING EVANS WAS...

Sometimes adding kids isnt the best option. Coach hatch at ESF lost 2 div 1 type kids and won more games without them.

If I feel a kid will hurt my program, he doesn't play.

Won more games without them? Assume you are talking about Scott and Evans as being "div 1 type kids". Both PC West and Edmond memorial had better records than SF. And memorial was 2-0 against SF head to head. SF set an all time record for biggest margin of loss in a 6a final game (39 points), so its prob safe to say they would have been better w those 2 @ SF. IF Trey Evans wasn't going to be allowed to play at SF, it was probably because of personality conflicts between "hatch" and Coach Evans, not what was best for the team/program.

Conflicts between Evans and everyone at SF. I didn't see Edmond Memorial or PC West in the state championship game. I would rather lose in the state championship game than the semis. I think it is great that SF stood up to Evans. Too much recruiting and not much loyalty in basketball in the OKC area. Too many AAU coaches hired to coach school teams and they treated it like AAU and recruit.

Leroy said it best. Mustang.. the all recruited team... Lets not go there again.
I'm glad SF backed its coach.

BUT

I want to see an Norman North vs Mustang game!

The right thing would have been to tell dad to keep his nose out of my team. Fact is Evans as a coach was second guessing every decision Hatchett made coaching wise. Every parent does that, but it's different when it's someone like Terry because he has a lot of credibility when it comes to coaching.

I've coached and I had to tell dad's to stay out of my program. It works if you stand up to them. But to punish the kid for the dad's action is tough. I hear college coaches dealing with the parent issue as well. What if they benched every kid with a meddling parent? What if Buddy's mom rode Kruger about every X and O? do we not play Buddy?

A college player should tell his mom/dad to respectfully be quiet if that ever happened. High school is filled with petty parents. When it comes to college the kids get away from their parents and it is a way smaller deal. Coaches in college would easily ride a kid to quit if the parents were too involved.

Don't know any more that's been posted here, but sounds juvenile to take it out on the kid. There also could be a lot more to the story. If you can't stand up to parents as the head of a program, you may need to look for other pastures...it's part of the job.
