You know what else I just realized? After Florida's 2 championships (with 4-5 elite talent upperclassmen) Billy D went to 2 straight NIT's, even though he had a number of McD's AAs as freshman the next year. After UNC won the title (with 4-5 elite talent upperclassmen) Roy went to the NIT and was only invited to that because of name alone. He had a ridiculous number of McD AAs freshman on that NIT team. After Capel went to the Elite 8 (with a few good upperclassmen and 2 elite underclassmen) the next year we sucked even though we had 2 McD AAs frosh.

It's hard for even the best after they lose a great group of players, even if they get good freshman in.

And, on top of all that, Donovan makes something like 3.5 a year and it's a joke to even mention him in this whole discussion.

green....what do you want? do you want to win 20 games a year and go to the tourney (make the Sweet 16)? Or would you rather go 14-17 and watch everyone else who is playing?

OU isn't going to get Roy Williams, Bill Self, Billy Donovan or very many other big names. I have seen a lot of good candidates posted on here and a lot that are WAYYYYY out there. There is not a candidate out there that will win 30 games every year and never lose.....you want to hire someone who will be consistently competitive, keep the program clean, recruit well and recruit good citizens and make your program respectful. You hope you are lucky enough to get to a Final Four here and there and HOPEFULLY have a chance to win a title at some point. Whoever is hired has a lot of work cut out for them no matter WHO it is....but Buzz probably fits better than the majority of AVAILABLE candidates.

You've never seen me calling for any of those coaches. I like Gregg Marshall, Dave Rose, Johnny Jones and a couple more. I totally agree with most of what your saying. I just have major doubts if Buzz can get it done CONSISTENTLY here.

Good point. Capel should have won a NC instead of just getting to the elite 8.
