Boogedy...Boogedy....

While watching the game last night I began to ponder the specifics of our little conference losing streak. And so today, for I'm a masochist, I decided to tally a few stats in regard to our horrific little slide:

We have lost 11 consecutive games to Big 12 competition.

Of those 11 losses, 9 have been by double digits.

In those 11 losses we have been outrebounded 8 times.

In those 11 losses we have been outshot by our opponent 11 times.

In those 11 losses we have shot 41.7% from the field.

In those 11 losses we have been outscored 860-722.

In those 11 losses, our average defeat has been by a score of 78.2-65.6.

We have not LED a Big 12 conference opponent since the 1:45 mark of the Texas A&M game in Norman on March 6, 2010, a span of 141 MINUTES AND 45 SECONDS of time on the court.

Although I make no guarantees regarding its authenticity, here's another sad stat you can add to your list. I don't recall a single game this season when OU won the opening tip.

On the surface that may appear to be no more than a minor annoyance. But I think it speaks volumes about our lack of size and athleticism in the low post. Maybe Coach should let Cam jump center so we don't log another ofer.

Nice post. Wow how far we have fallen.

I have noticed that too. Nearly every game I can look at the players when they take the floor and know that we will not win the tip unless Cade or somebody sneaks in and wrestles it away after it's been tipped.

Hopefully Goff will help in that department as well next year.

Never thought I would see a Ray Stevens reference on an OU basketball message board.

We have lost 11 consecutive games to Big 12 competition.

I still can't believe this. It's like Inception instead of being inside a dream within a dream we are trapped inside a nightmare within another nightmare.

I am not sure which game, but I do remember us winning a tip. I considered it a victory!

I used to make fun teams and schools like the one OU has become in basketball

:clap for the Ray Stevens reference.

however, this is a sad state of affairs for our program.

It feels like we're trapped in the ring with the Blue Cyclone to be honest.

Anyhow, in regards to being behind for 141+ minutes. Our last lead was 30-29 with 1:45 left in the first half against A&M. Since that moment we've been outscored 263-203.

Per 40 minutes, that's an average of 74.5-57.5.

Not that it provides any solace, but we did get the opening tip in the Maryland Eastern Shore game. Have it on DVR. We got the ball to Fitz less than a minute later and he missed a little short jumpshot (one that he usually makes). Fitz was fouled, however, then missed his first free throw, but hit his second to give the Sooners a 1-0 lead.

And we were on our way. :)

That must be the game OkieTC remembered. I feel much better now. ;)

Seriously, I appreciate the heads up. I honestly couldn't recall a game this year, even against the cupcakes, where we won a tip by out-jumping the other center or beating our opponent to a loose ball. It's really not that big of a deal, except it calls attention to what I believe is the weakest we have ever been in the post positions.

Hopefully, Goff and Osby will change that, although I'm not so sure about Goff anymore. His four point performance in last night's win over Garden City, leads me to believe that DM may be right about the prospects of Robert having an immediate impact as a starter next year.

He's always making the news wearing just his tennis shoes, guess you could call him unique.

We have now lost 12 consecutive games to Big 12 competition.

Of those 12 losses, 10 have been by double digits.

In those 12 losses we have been outrebounded 9 times.

In those 12 losses we have been outshot by our opponent 12 times.

In those 12 losses we have shot 41.5% from the field.

In those 12 losses we have been outscored 926-768.

In those 12 losses, our average defeat has been by a score of 77.2-64.0.

That is truly incredible. We haven't even led a conference opponent 2-0? Absolutely pathetic

don't worry, I'm sure in a couple of those games we played hard and showed "heart". You know keep your head up kiddo maybe Coach can take us for soda and pizza after the game.
