Take a SWAG (Scientific Wild Ass Guess) at who you think our next coach will be and give your thoughts on the hire.

2)
Tell us who you want our next coach to be and give your reasoning for the hire.

I’ll go first

1)
I’m guessing we’ll end up with Mark Turgeon- his seat is relatively warm if not hot at Maryland and his name has been thrown around a lot. Midwestern boy, Kansas grad ... I’m not overly excited about this hire but it’s my best guess at the moment although it’s a fluid situation

2)
I’d like us to hire Kellen Sampson. He’s 35 years old, young up and comer and he’s a good recruiter with significant texass recruiting contacts and experience. His team he’s been an assistant on for 6 or 7 years is in the final four. He played here so he might actually stay here for a long period of time.

1) McCasland. Checks the boxes and has a proven track record as a head coach. Has a presence in our most important recruiting grounds.

2) Calipari. I want the 1 and dones to come to ou by (almost) any means necessary. That’s how you change the image of ou hoops overnight. This guy knows how to swim through the slime and come out clean. That’s what it takes to get elite high schoolers anymore.

I disagree with you about Turgeon. I hope he's not even offered and if he is I don't think he takes it. He accepted it when Kelvin left for IU and then declined so we hired Capel. Hopefully Joe won't even give him a shot.

I think it will be Kellen but I'm hoping for Kelvin. I would take Kellen though, I think.

1. I think we get Kellen Sampson to be honest. He has almost everything we will be looking for except head coaching experience. OU kid.....plenty of assistant experience....great recruiting ties by now.....can help us tap the Houston area for sure.

2. I would honestly like them to hire Kellen if he is interested. McCasland would have been a close #2 for me.

I think there is a good chance it will be dana Altman

if i had my pick?? It would be jay Wright ..

Why would Altman leave Oregon?

I don't want to see us hire him because we'd be looking for a new coach again in short order. He surely can't intend to coach that much longer.

1.) I think it will be McCasland, which I am fine with. He's close... He's had good success... His juco background and recruiting background are perfect for OU. He makes the most sense.

2.) I hope we hire Quannas White, if he's interested... there are lots of reasons not to hire him, but I really do think he would be successful and I'd love for his big opportunity to be at OU. He will be a head coach, there is no doubt about that... I would be really excited for that hire.

The only guy I half way get excited about is Dana Altman and that doesn’t really move the needle all that much. Surround him with dogged recruiters and you might have something.

I’d like to see Anthony Grant. National Coach of the Year last year, spent three years here with the Thunder. Has coached at a football school already, with mixed results though.
Runs a fun offense and can recruit. Only thing is he has the VCU background. I do think Joe C could pull him.

Quannas' bio for Houston says he played a key role in recruiting Mitchell Robinson to WKU and helped them land a top 10-15 class for that 2017 year. No clue if the kid had a family connection to the school or what, but if he can get 5 star centers like that to WKU then sign me up for what he could bring to a power 5 school.

anthony grant is a name i like a lot

Oregon can rather easily match anything OU could pay him.

their athletic dept has far less money then OU's and the gap will continue to get bigger ...

now could phil knight make a phone call and say "i am willing to come out of my own pocket to do it" sure he could but as a AD they don't have the money to "easily match"

Screw Dana Altman.... OU is currently one of the most boring programs around... We don't need some 65 year old guy at the end of his career again. What is this, OU basketball or Del Boca Vista?

Couldn't agree more.

I really don't like Altman either. I just have trouble getting behind Kellen as I would think this job is too big for him.
I can not stand the thought of Turgeon the Virgin.

He's 62 (which probably doesn't sway you). I misstated his age as 65 a day or two ago.

This claim that OU is a "boring" program sounds like the whining of a six-year-old. "Daddy, I'm bored! Can we go home?" Was beating three Top 10 programs in a single month and all the national hype that brought us boring? Was being ranked in the Top 10 boring? Is going to the tourney every freaking year "boring"?

I'm as disappointed as anyone that things fell apart in the final few regular season games, but it happens. All of them were close losses that could have gone either way.

Honestly, you're back in bot mode. Hyping Frank Haith, who certainly wouldn't be boring because we'd be on probation in short order. Give me a winning coach who runs a clean program every single time. That's the kind of boring I can get behind.
