I know fitz is in shape, I know we have cam, we have 9 new faces. Convince me we can make the tourney all you experts out there.

Which tourney? I mean. I think we're a lock for the Big XII tourney.

We are a lock for the NCAA Tournament this year.

I think it would be hard to convince anyone this team will clearly make the tourney because there are so many unknowns. However, I think if some of those questions get answered favorably for the Sooners, then we have a real shot to make some noise. We have a senior leader, some new talent, some returning talent, signs of good chemistry and good work ethic, and if we can find some rebounding, improve defensively, then we have a serious shot at the tourney.

Give me your reasoning Nick cuz even as big as a "homer" I am I wouldn't consider us a lock.
Team chemistry plus I think our players are better than advertised. Last year our players weren't that good and there was no chemistry.

I agree on the chemistry thing and I really hope you are right on the second part Nick.

In every level of basketball that I've followed, I've seen many, many examples of where team chemistry won out over better talent. And this team seems to have great chemistry. I'll leave it at that. :)

I've crossed my fingers, that is all you need to know.

I don't think we are a lock for the NCAA tourney, but if these guys work as hard all year as they have in the off season then we are for sure a lock for the NIT and a bubble NCAA team

im excited for this year.. we have so many new faces it is crazy to think about.. i take heart and brains over talent must of the time i hope these kids got it.. hearing about newell and his lock down D potential pumps me up.. i love kids that work, the complete opposite of last years team

aI think NIT is a real chance,NCAA not so much. This team has a really tough road ahead of it in non-con and conference.I thought Capel would dumb down the noncon slate and load up on more home games to build confidence and chemistry.I'm thinking 18-14 after the Big X Tourney(OK technically we won't be Big X till next year).

Seeing a lot of posts about team chemistry... not trying to hate but where are you getting this from? Have there been reports about it in practice? I've been out of the loop. Think I might wait till the season starts to consider how much chemistry this team truly has with so many new faces. Just my opinion.

Not so much from reports, but I have personally seen basketball players hanging out on campus, joking with each other, not fighting over ex-girlfriends, sounds like a pretty big case of Team Chemistry, IMO

I think a close to .500 league regular season and NIT bid would be a good bounce back year. An NCAA bid would be amazing, imo.

I am buying the chemistry angle but I also worry about a lack of overrall talent to make the Big Dance in what is a tough conference.

I think the backcourt has the overall talent (young but talented) to be a tournament team but the front court worries me. Low post defense and rebounding has to be a focus for this team to succeed.

Hope that translates to on-court chemistry. We sorely missed that last year.

It usually does. When guys genuinely like each other off the court there tends to be great on court chemistry. It has a lot to do with if the guys is your true friend then you want him to succeed also and wont play as selfishly as you would if you didn't like your teammates
