osu is on a foreign summer exhibition trip, and yesterday they lost by 27 points to the Italian National B Team. I have no idea how good the Italian National B Team is, but I’d like to shake their hands for putting a whooping on little brother. :eddie187_jpg_xs:

Since you brought it up, here's more info on the tour. First, recap of yesterday's game:

Oklahoma State fell behind 18-6 to begin the game and never recovered. The Cowboys remained within 12 at half, but were outscored 30-16 in the third quarter.

As a team, OSU had 26 turnovers and only 12 assists. The Cowboys shot 36 percent from the field and 19 percent from 3-point range.

Mike Boynton started Michael Weathers, Lindy Waters, Thomas Dziagwa, Cameron McGriff and Yor Anei.

Here is OSU’s full schedule (that began last weekend):

• Sunday: Arrive in Venice, take boat to hotel; Welcome dinner

• Monday: Gondola tour of Venice; Glassblowing tour

• Tuesday: Game 1 vs. Italian National “B” team, 1 p.m. CT

• Wednesday: High-speed train from Venice to Rome; Guided tour of Vatican City

The Poke apologists are comparing the Italian team to an NBA D League team.

What did the apologists have to say about the team’s 26 turnovers and their abysmal 4 of 21 shooting from three point range?

"They are working in 8 new guys including 5 true freshmen, it's going to take time."

Is this any different than UT-Arlington coming to Norman last year and beating our guys like rented mules?

Kinda different, in that the Italian team are paid professional players and UT-Arlington isn't.

The quality of the players is what is relevant, not whether they are paid or not.

I'd say the results of these games don't matter at all, whether we are talking about foreign trips in the summer or the preseason benefit games last year. OU dominated in Australia last summer, then got curb stomped by UTA in October in the LNC. I don't think any of those results affected the season one bit. The additional practice time and game experience is the benefit of these summer trips, but the results are pretty much irrelevant. It's like spring training baseball -- always nice to see your team win, but it has no bearing on what happens once Opening Day arrives.

No idea the quality of player. All I read was they went 14-29 from 3 and played really good team basketball. No idea on talent level or athletic ability.

OSU's starting lineup looks pretty bizarre too. Nothing I would be excited about.

I can't remember any team only returning 3 players from the previous season(not counting redshirt transfers who sat out). If Boynton can cobble together a decent season he might be the real deal.

We’ve never been beat by UT-Arlington. You guys may be thinking of Stephen F Austin. They beat us in 07 by 4 and 2012 by 1 both in Norman.

UT-A beat OU in an exhibition game last year. They had a good team but exhibitions mean nothing other than game like simulation.

You’re right. I forgot about the “secret” exhibition games we play. My mistake, yeah the one with UT-A was bad from reports about it. We had one with Oregon too, correct?
