All I'm saying is if we really want to compete in the big 12 then Fitz and Blair need to be 10-15 min max players. I feel like we've got a large enough sample size of both to know that they each have fundamental flaws in their game. Blair is going to commit mind numbing turnovers and Fitzgerald is going to play like his feet are cinder blocks. Nothing against them, they're just limited players that have been forced to play more than they should at a power conference school.
Ideally, I'd agree. But playing the style we are, we don't have enough depth for that to be the case. We have two true guards on the bench, Blair and Newell. Both will need to play major minutes in the games where Neal cannot get minutes at the 3 (which is most games, IMO). And while Fitz has "fundemental flaws", so does the guy that would take his minutes (Arent). Really, outside of Osby, we are pretty average inside. And Osby may end up being just average. Fitz still brings more to the game then Arent, IMO.
Damn Newell is filling it up
The hard work on defense is so critical. By the time they get a shot their flustered and tired... I remember, how, under Capel they sorta had no belief in their defense and could not play as a team. Nice to see that changing!!
