On espn classic right now...march 2000 last game at old GIA..I had almost forgotten about the renzi incident with the OSU cheerleader early on in the game

Ha... I was home at lunch and watched a little bit of this game...

I obviously don't like the eventual outcome, but one thing I really noticed was how much more fluid the game was compared with most college basketball games today...

I don't even know what it was.... because it's not like it was a high-scoring up-and-down game... both teams were playing great defense... it was just more.... fluid... I can't even really put my finger on what it was; it just seemed so much better than almost every college basketball game I see today.

Was it just me looking at the game through nostalgic eyes?

I would have thought that to be an ugly game. I remember it being pretty physical. Isn't that the game where Eduardo picked Mason up off the floor at the end of the game?

^^^^

Yeah I think so. And I know what you mean about it being ugly... that's what I was expecting to see, but it just wasn't.

Again maybe I'm looking through nostalgic eyes.... or maybe it's that back then playing great defense really was playing great defense... rather than today's version which is a lot of push-and-shove-and-grab and hope the refs are calling a loose game.

Your not looking through nostalgic eyes. College basketball is not as good as it used to be. Those teams were filled with upper classman. It's just a different type of game now.
