OSU = 9-11 Do they make it ???

I know the link above may not come as a surprise, but it's definitely not good news for the Pokes regardless.

"Beginning with 2012-13 championships, teams must earn a minimum 900 four-year APR or a 930 average over the most recent two years to be eligible for NCAA championships."

OSU meets the 4 year criteria, although the NCAA is raising the standard next season so OSU will certainly need the attrition rate to slow down significantly. Now that Ford is finally having players make it 4 years, hopefully this won't be an issue in the future.

I would take ours knowing that Lon recruits Talent along with good citizens. Unlike Ford who can recruit talent but they are mostly NUTS, lol. You can have your crazy's while we are growing 4year players that are talented and stay around. You enjoy your BAD coach and crazy players, lol

Yeah, Markel Brown, Cobbins, Brian Williams, Nash, Forte...just a bunch of crazy kids that aren't 4 year guys...

C'mon, every fan base has a "Vinny" ;)

I'm so glad Markel Brown is finally done after this year...respect the heck out of him. Terrific player.

Browns Awesome and Forte is above average but has limitations on D, but Cobbins/Williams - eh nothing to write home about. Nash - it depends on which one shows up.

So, yes on 2 of them and NO on the other three - you are wearing orange glasses, lol

And watch it Wayman, don't make me block you :-)

Jerry Meyer got that one wrong. Kid was probably scared of competition and has qualification issues, or pees outside too much.

Why would I be worried about Next year?

Nash
Forte
Cobbins
Murphy
Williams
Hammonds
Carroll

A good recruiting class coming in: Newberry (a top JUCO point) and the 4star recruits in Terrell, Burton and Solomon....likely adding a 5 star guard on Wednesday...and will be adding a PF/C as well...Not worried at all, record will be better IMO.

Football, keep winning, systems are in place, recruiting has been good...

This is an honest questions and not trying to take a dig. Why does OSU not play the 2 tall guys on the bench? I would have assumed when cobbins went down they would get some playing time, but really nothing meningful. Are they just that bad? Were they brought in to be contributers, practice player and roster fillers?

I'm assuming you're talking about Mason Cox and Gary Gaskins?

Cox was certainly never meant to be a contributor. He's a walk-on who was actually "discovered" by the OSU women's coach. They were using him as a practice player stand-in for Britney Griner, lol.

Ford saw him and asked him to come help at men's practice and he ended up doing that as a walk-on the past two years.

He actually has been playing some ever since the Texas game in Austin. Ford has been putting him in for 3-5 minutes per game to spell Murphy... especially against teams that have big front lines. He can't really do anything offensively, but he can block a few shots and grab some rebounds.

Gaskins is another case. He was basically a recruiting miss. He was a juco player who should be contributing this year. The fact that Cox is coming off the bench ahead of him tells you all you need to know.

What about the 7 foot Marek Soucek?

Who is this Gary character??

I'd say it's more likely he was worried about the negative press and who OSU's coach will be next year.

I have no idea what OSU's brass can do to eliminate the fear surrounding Ford's shaky status? I can't see them extending his contract again. My guess is their rear ends are already from the self-inflicted kicks, as the result of the last extension.

Serious question. What do you think OSU can do to calm the fears of the high-profile players you're recruiting for next year and beyond?
