OSU fans - you are still 13-14 and...

And any OSU fan that doesn't think they will miss Page, is crazy.

And if you can find me a single OSU fan who has said that Page won't be missed, I'll be impressed.

It may take OU a couple more seasons to catch OSU, but I'd bet a lot of money that in 3-4 years, OU is in better shape.

Based on what? Wishful thinking?

I do agree that OU will get better with Kruger there, because he's a solid coach. But I don't see what evidence there is that OU looks like they'r going to be close to catching OSU's overall level of talent any time soon.

OSU is more talented right now and has Smart (#3 SG in the country) and Forte (#25 PG) coming in next year. OU has a couple of shooting guards who aren't nationally ranked.

Heck, Ford might not even be the OSU coach at that point.

We'll see.

As I previously noted, all of Ford's problems at OSU right now go back to that first full recruiting class. Subsequent classes are looking much, much better.

Based on what? How much exactly have you seen out of Ford that gives you hope he can be a consistent winner? Most of your fan base is/was down on the guy, I'm not sure why a couple of nice wins this year changes that. I've watched his teams. I'm not impressed. I don't think he is a very good coach. I put him in the same category as Jeff Capel. Sure, when things come together and he has a really nice roster, or a GREAT player, he can probably get them to the Dance. But I don't think he can recruit those types of rosters/players often enough. We'll see.

I'm also not willing to say OSU is more talented then OU. They have better scoring guards, and THAT is the only difference in the two teams. I'd actually take OU's posts over that of OSU. As for what is "incoming", OU's guards that are coming in are plenty talented. ESPN rates them as the 20th and 31st SG's in the country. Both are top 100-150 kids, easily. Hield has been a little under the radar, but Hornbeak was recruited by Marquette, Texas, and aTm.

And my point is that recruiting won't matter. If Ford is as "average" a coach as I think he is, LK will coach circles around him once he gets a team on the court that is his. Given our roster, and how it was when LK took over the team, that may not be until he gets his 2013 class on campus. And we're in on plenty of talent in that class.

Like I said, there really isn't a fair comparison until LK gets his 2013 class on campus. If you can watch Travis Ford coached teams, and what you see gets you excited, more power to you. I was a Ford fan when he first got to OU. I thought he'd do a very good job, for many of the same reasons I thought Capel would do good initially. But in time, I saw/see major flaws in both of them. Capel flamed out. I think Ford will do the same.

You don't have to agree with me. There aren't enough "facts" to call it for sure, either way. The above is my opinion. I'm simply not worried about OSU with Ford as their coach. If he stays there long enough, he'll get them to the Dance. I just don't think he'll do so consistently. And I can't see OSU fans being content with that.

It just amazes how OSU fans are so high on Travis Ford when he has a losing record in his 5th year of coaching.

Yeah... you basically agreed with me.

You say that there aren't enough facts either way, yet you're also "willing to bet a large sum of money" that OU will "pass" OSU in 3-4 years.

So doesn't that make my point that you're basing that "bet" thing on wishful thinking? If there aren't enough "facts"?

Not at all. :facepalm

First it's his 4th season and I suppose you're talking about his record for this season? At this rate, I expect that to change Wed. night.

THIS

Also, for all you agglets on our board, go read the article in the Oklahoman today from Baldwin who quotes a ton of people who actually know basketball (none of us no who in the heck you all are - although most on here act like they have coached for 30 years, LOL - for all we know Dignon could be a 16 year old kid, lol) - the article says EXACTLY WHAT I SAID EARLIER !!!!!!!!!!!! Kruger WILL not might bring OU back to a top 20 team - it is WHEN not IF!!!!!

For the Agglets, Ford has NO PROVEN RECORD of doing anything like that. All he has proven is that he CAN'T win yet with his own players - that is a FACT. I for one am sure glad that Holder signed him to a 10 year deal so Kruger can dominate him !!

All of Fords problems starts with the fact that he keeps running off his post players.

If oswho manages to keep the officiating crew they had yesterday, they'll go undefeated and win a national title next season.

They were gifted with 56 free throw attempts to 18 for texas.

56.

That's nearly a 40-shot disparity in free throw attempts, and they won by 12.

When we played texas at home, we shot 8 free throws to texas's 29. We lost to texas by 11 with a 21-FT disparity against us. At home.

That's a 48-FT disparity between OU and oswho at home against texas.

And they're here crowing about their big win.

Good gawd this thread is terrible. Are we actually seeing OSU fans touting their team and making statements about OU catching up to them?

I know you were basically called out by the OP but let me put a few things into perspective:

Travis Ford has won a total of 8 more games than Capel/Kruger have at OU since 08-09 (when Travis arrived in Stillwater).

This is the worst 4yr stretch for OU since 1979-1982.

To recap the above statements Travis Ford has averaged 2 more wins per season than OU's worst stretch in 30 years.

Even in OU's worst stretch in the last 30 years we have managed to win 3 times as many NCAA tournament games as OSU. OSU has made the tourney 1 more time than OU in that span.

We are both sitting on steaming piles of ****, don't fool yourselves.

With that said; good luck this week & I hope both programs get back to where they should be as quickly as possible.

Oh - wait -- you mean that Big 12 officials are wildly inconsistent, and the home team generally gets the calls?

I'm shocked to hear this new and intriguing information.

OSU had 7 free-throw attempts in it's loss to Mizzou the other night.

Welcome to the Big 12.

And they're here crowing about their big win.

LOL dude. Who's crowing?

I've probably said 4 times in this thread alone that we're a bad team.

Welll, if it's any consolidation for OSU haters, they have the same ticket to the NCAA tournament that we currently do:

Winning the Big 12 tourney and nothing else.

Heeeeeey, maybe you pokes will get 40 outta Keiton Page every night for the next month! ;)

Our pile stinks less and is starting to dry up.

Probably wouldn't hurt to go ahead and say it a 5th time.

Just sayin'.

We're bad.

:woot

As I said in another thread... us bickering about our teams right now is like a hobo fight.

Here's something scary I just realized... if OSU beats OU on Wednesday, then OSU's overall record will be 14-14, and OU's will be 13-14.

I wonder... when was the last time that neither OSU nor OU had an overall winning record as late as Feb. 22? It has to be at least 30-40 years, right?

:facepalm

If only there were Internet alcohol. We could all tap into the Internet beer keg and be all like...

OSU: We thought this was going to be a tournament year, with our bigtime recruit and Keiton's senior year.

OU: We thought anything after Capel would be better.

ORU: Hey guys! Isn't it funny that you beat us and we'll be the ones going to the NCAA tournament?

(awkward silence)

ORU: ...I'll just show myself the Internet door. I'm not allowed to drink Internet alcohol anyway.

OSU: So our fanbase is all like "Fire Travis Fraud" and I'm all like "You don't even care about basketball anymore because you don't show up to games" and they're all like "DON'T JUDGE ME" and there's a big Internet sh!tstorm with feelers hurt everywhere. I added in a big ol "Why the **** are we wearing gray uniforms when our fans wear orange" just to really stir them up, hehe.

OU: Hehe, we actually got mentioned on ESPN for the tournament last weekend --- as a key loss for Kansas State with a nice little TWO behind it. Awww, those were the glory days, ruining someone else's tournament chances. We'd do it to you, too, if you were a tournament team.

OSU: You stupid Gooner.

OU: You ignorant Aggy.

I personally think OU and OSU have the same basic problem in that niether OU nor OSU is a complete team. OSU just doesn't have enough post players and OU just doesn't have enough guards.
