We have problems. Period. Season maybe at a tipping point. Have to say I am a bit concerned.

How different is this from the North Texas loss? We responded with our best win, probably, and an eight game winning streak. It indicates something, probably the lack of a team leader that has not yet stepped forward to assert that role.

I believe I was more disappointed about this one than any game I have watched in years.

We have gone to a system just like Iowa State. Just shoot a million 3's and the nights you hit 50% - 80% of them you can beat even really good teams. But you are guaranteed to lose several games simply because they don't fall.

I wonder if the reason is our lack of height in the inside. We are 6'3". All the other better teams are 6'5" - and more. KK is probably our best player right now, but she is simply not tall enough to score 25 - 30 per night like she needs to do to make up for all the mistakes and poor shooting by the others. On a night like tonight she finally starts to give more than she is capable of since no one else will step up and produce - and the fouls occur.

The main difference from last year is that Peyton is struggling big-time. Last year because Peyton played well and KK played well we were much better.

And there is simply NO EXCUSE for lousy free throw shooting. If we want to improve that they must be ordered to shoot for a full hour - after practice - or until they hit 25 in a row. Practice under pressure WILL improve free throw shooting. Free throw shooting is 90% commitment and practice.

Anyone who thinks Vivi is playing as well as KK is just not looking at the play on the court - or the stats. I like Vivi but she cannot do the things KK does. But KK is too short to control the inside against girls who are several inches taller. That may explain why Sherri has given into the 3 point barrage - even on a night when they won't fall. Tonight up to the last minute we were 5 of 21. You cannot win wasting that many shots. It is no different than an extra 8-12 turnovers.

We struggle against Agressive athletic teams point blank. It will not change until we bring in players to match that. I don't know why we stopped recruiting those type of players after DROB, AT, and Ny Stevenson.

But, after a loss......

Your post is pathetic.

Perhaps, people don't have the time or interest in posting after a game.

There could be a million reasons people do or don't post on here.

Your attempt to somehow demean people who don't post after every win or loss as some kind of lesser fan just shows what a jerk you are.

Grow up, Syb.

We should have beaten UTSA. It wasn't a marque game against a respected opponent. It's like the football team playing Louisiana-Lafayette.

There isn't much to say afterward or much you can take away from it.

I did notice your usual lavish, over-the-top praise of Maddie as the second coming was a bit muted today.

I do agree with you that the losses highlight a lack of team leadership.

They also highlight the age-old
problems this program has had for years: turnovers, lazy, sloppy play, over dribbling, missing chip shots, poor focus, poor decision making, poor rebounding and no one stepping up.

The point was and is that some people only show up to tell us how bad the program is after a loss. When we win, they don't seem to have time. But, they show up after nearly every loss.

Some on here share my assessment that we aren't athletic enough o beat the better teams.

Somebody posted that Treece played 8 minutes today. Wrong. Look at the stat sheet, it was 4 and that was rounding up. You can't get into the flow playing a minute and a half in the 2nd and 4th qtrs. Despite that, she made a couple of good plays.

If this team wants to play to their potential, the girls need to play with more intensity and a lot smarter. They won't be good teams by just taking the floor.

I think Sherri needs to get tougher on them. When your Jrs and Srs make the same mistakes they made as freshman, you aren't being demanding, your tolerating it. When 4 or 5 trips down the court have a player grabbing her shorts, you aren't demanding enough. John Wooden wouldn't put up with that.

Now if it's just about having fun with no expectations tolerating repeated mistakes is ok.

I was disappointed in our rebounding and our inability to finish at the rim. After getting a ten point lead we just seemed to forget how to play the game, or do the things that got the lead. A/M went on a 21-1 run and we couldn't hit free throws or lay ups. I personally did not think the Ags were necessarily that much better than us, as we continued to beat our selves. I agree, this team needs to find leadership that can take a game on their back and bring team mates with her. Maddie is close, she needs to be consistent. Kaylon has shown flashes, but she has to quit throwing up bricks and be solid off the glass. I may have more confidence in the future of this team than others. The biggest key is the want to do the dirty work. Make the extra pass. Don't wait til six seconds are on the clock before closing out a quarter, run the offense and get the best shot you can. We need kids that want to rebound and go to the ball. The answer is simple, but you have to have the kids want to. This team can compete for a conference championship, its just how bad do they want it.

I think if this team plays together, good things will happen. When A&M went on their run, we panicked and everyone tried to do their own individual thing. That's where we need leadership. A&M had that in Jones.
Gioya would of helped a lot as well.

I got your point, and it's stupid. I post after wins and losses, but I don't always post after a game.

I'm sure there a lot of people who do the same thing or vice versa.

I probably could post a list of posters who only try to demean other posters, but the latter would be a very short list.

One.

We are a better team than A&M. The wheels did come off. I don't know who the captains are. Maddie is one. I don't think that Kay Kay has the temperament to be a leader that will stabilize things on the court. She is one that needs to be stabilized. I think that will have to come from Maddie or Peyton. Maybe in a year or so, it could be Gabbi. Who has that temperament?

I have the feeling that Maddie is still about halfway recovered mentally. I wonder if she feels that she has the "right" to take over the team? She has been on the bench as others have started while she healed. She probably has the best temperament for it, but I question whether she has come that far in her thinking. We need Maddie.

The biggest problem is that I think T'Ona has it. But, she is not capable of taking the reins. She plays out of control herself. It has to be Peyton or Maddie from this group. We are either playing for a conference title or for third, depending on whether we find it, or some measure of it. But, we really haven't had that crunch time person that we could count on in the past two or three years.

I agree with you on the crunch person.
Sherri wanted it to be Morgan and Morgan finally gave up saying something akin to "what more can I do" in frustration at her coach.

Peyton isn't a leader. Maddie isn't a leader. We don't have a leader.

Whitney was a leader. Courtney was a leader. D-Rob was a leader.

Not having a leader, or having one, is an indication of recruiting successes and weaknesses.

I think Maddie has leadership all over her. But, she is coming from a situation where it may be subordinated as she becomes comfortable. If Gioya had not been injured, she might have developed it. She has some of it. It's all over Gabbi. But, she has a lot to learn first.

A good team leader is difficult to recruit. A&M really won a title because they got one---for just two or three months. Colson finally showed up. Our football team has had immense talent, but no leader. This year, we outperformed ourselves because Baker is a leader. We went to the Final Four under Kelvin because we had a JC transfer at point who was a drill sergeant on the floor.

But, after a loss......

Well I haven't posted after either until today. I guess I need to start monitoring this site 24/7 to see what the wise old gray beards from up on high think.

Actually I've watched every game available here.

So when you all are discussing PG why does Maddie's name not come up?

If A&M can out rebound us by 10, I hate to think what Baylor will do.

Science is still working on that number. Baylor has athletic guards and big, athletic girls. Sounds like the same old song and dance to me.

We lost to another ranked team. Y'all are acting like its the end of the world. It could have been much worse than what it was. It's as simple as this. We take the loss, learn from it, and move on.

Sherri has a hard time getting the team motivated, we tend to over look some teams we should beat I think Tech or TCU might upset us on game this year... And then if we have a big lead and the other teams makes a big comeback we have no answers. Little is going to struggle because I'm sure she's at the top of the other teams scouting report. I'm a big little fan, it seems like she would atlest try and get to the rim more last year... Now she's taking what the defensive will give her and jacking up 3s. I know Sherri isn't Geno, but Uconn players move a lot more in there motion offense, next year it's time to go away from the motionless motion offense we've been running...

I vote for Rich to be our team leader next year, but I don't think you can lead from the bench... I thought it was Little, but she's more of a let her play do the talking type of leader...

When A&M is expected to finish in the middle of the pack in the SEC and we are expected to be in the top of the big 12, this is a team we should beat...
