@OU_MBBall: OU (4-0) currently leads the nation in FG% defense by holding opponents to just 31.4% shooting on year! #stingy

That seems pretty good considering OU has played two respectable teams. I bet a lot of teams have not played anyone yet.

That's a good sign. It's really early, but the eye test says we're playing great defense and the numbers back it up. I don't know if we'll be the best by the end of the season, but I am sure we'll be really good.

Kruger's switching man defense really gives teams headaches when the switches are made seamlessly. Shooters are so used to watching for the man to go under a screen or to follow the ball on the screen and roll. Makes it really tough to exploit those advantages when you run it right.

Throw in that we speed teams up, and we force a lot of bad shots or rushed/hurried shots.

We have length and are quick. We'll have some bad offensive games, but I expect defense to be the backbone of our success.

I said this after the Wisconsin game on another thread:

This win came as a result of OU playing solid defense and forcing Wisky into a poor shooting performance, likely their worst in years. I'm fine with that, because defense can win a lot of games for you when it's played well. It's also the most reliable.

This OU team is plenty good enough to win most games on offense. They're even better on defense. If our kids can maintain their intensity and continue to do a good job on the help side, the sky is the limit for what is becoming one of my favorite teams of all time.

Didn't think this would be the case before the season, but looking like Manyang is the key piece here. we know what we have in the backcourt, and Ryan Spangler is obviously a known quantity as well. Manyang, though, gives us that true interior presence for the games we'll need it against the country's elite.
