OU makes Cox top 13

Her recruiting has slightly increased but I still do not think
She goes after instate players hard as she should, got lucky with
Dungee and Llanusa IMO. OU just so happened to be their "Dream School"

Ask any other Instate prospect, it's Inconsistency.

Experience tells me we can't land Cox unless we end up with a whale of a season this year. That said, Sherri's recruiting has actually improved in the last couple of years, so I'm hopeful she can close the deal.

If she did, would she be the most valued recruit OU has ever landed, even over Courtney?

I think we have a pretty good chance to land Cox... Stepping in to Stewart spot possibly in her freshmen year, and her friendship with Katie Lou, are the only things that scares me... at Texas she could be stuck playing the 5. I think Hosey will be a 4 year starter at the power forward spot for them.

The only clue that I have seen suggests that she would rather not be a five. With Mulkey on the way (aren't they friends?), you would think that Nancy would be the five. Odimgbe is also a back to the basket type player, and Treece and Vivi will still be here. She would not be the only person inside.

Cox doesn't reveal all that much in her choices. It's a list of the well-known schools with only SMU being unique. That is her mother's school. But, I wouldn't be surprised to see her go to SMU where she could be the foundation for a new program. It is a bit different from some schools: small campus with no long walks to class or to the fieldhouse. It is somewhat self-contained, almost like a quiet commune in the middle of a city.

I think our chance of signing Cox is no higher than 10%. If Courtney was still here or perhaps DRob and we were ranked in the top 10 I would like our chances better.

I think Texas has about a 50% chance of signing her. They have a top 10 team, great recruits coming, and they have a great volleyball team. Throw in the fact that Karen Aston is proving she is one of the best recruiters in the country, I think that likely adds up to her being a Horn.

Remember that we didn't have a Courtney or a drob when we signed the Paris twins.... I think Texas is doing some of the recruiting for itself, meaning the top talent from Texas is staying in state, other then Atkins and Hosey, they haven't gotten any other elite players.
Also it was brought out recently that Cox will now focus on One sport in college and that's basketball...

I didn't know Cox was not going to play volleyball.

When Courtney signed with OU we had Stacy Hansmeyer. Without her we have missed on several big recruits.

Flower Mound is 12-6, 5-2 in district. She must be doing it alone.

I watched Cox against the best in the world in the U-17 in Moscow where we had to survive Salvadores who destroyed our best guards. Fortunately, Cox was the only one of our forwards (or players, for that matter) to assert herself, and we were able to hold Spain off. It was Cox vs Salvadores.

Among those who did not perform well in that game were Holmes and Durr.

The Harold Hamm Diabetes Center at OUHSC in OKC might help in making Lauren's decision. She could be involved in research easily. Every little bit helps!

Enjoyed watching @lauren_cox15 tonight at FloMo HS. Didn't keep track, but guessing she had 30 points, 17 rebounds, 13 blocks, 3 assists.

whoever gets Cox will defiantly be getting a game changer....

With the talk of loyalty, I could see SMU getting a serious look from her, I'm sure the draw to come play for Geno and have a chance to win 4 will be big, but maybe Cox will want to help a school go after number 1.

The more I read about her, the more I think she will choose a school based primarily on two things. 1) where she feels most comfortable and 2) one that offers a good basketball program. Note, I said good, not great. I think as long as the program is good and offers a lot of potential, she will give them a close look, particularly if those schools are within driving distance of Flower Mound. I could be completely off base but, I don't see her going too far away from her family.

Reasons she may give OU a serious look:

1. Close to home.
2. We have players coming whom she knows well (Dungee and Mulkey).
3. We are winning and hopefully, she can see the potential if she were added to the lineup.
4. I believe Sherri is the kind of person and coach that Lauren would like.
5. OU is a quality school with good facilities.
6. Good attendance to home games.

Earlier I was thinking OU's chances of signing Cox was no higher than 10%. Right now, I might increase that to 15-20%. It will be interesting to see how many home games she attends in Norman this year.

All really good points Norm, I think we have about a 50% chance of landing Cox, I hope she can make the OU at texas game.

50% sounds great...I'm just being a little conservative but really hope 50% is close to accurate.
