OU Softball

Softball schedule tomorrow:

11:00 Washington vs Tenn
1:30 OU vs UT

6:00 Neb vs UF
8:30 ASU vs UM

We broke the Horns' back in the bottom of the 3rd, with 6 runs (??? not sure how many of them were earned).

I think three were ruled as earned. There was an unearned run against Bruin, which came from the "error" on Turang's bunt. I don't know that Turang didn't beat that one out for a hit, but they said no.

I still fear Texas more than any other team in the Series. Luna gives us more trouble than any other pitcher we have faced. Until I see Tennessee perform better than the Horns, I think Texas is #2. I just wasn't that impressed with the SEC, despite their rpis. Their non-conference schedules were too weak to generate those rpis. I'm not surprised that they have all exited so easily.

I too worry about Luna... so with that said, who do we root for to win between Florida and Nebraska? Which one has the better chance to knock off the Horns?

Nebraska has beaten good teams on the road. Florida really hasn't. They lived in Florida.

And the Huskers have a really, really good infield, excelling at "turning two". Just a solid, fundamentally good club. I give them a decent chance to beat Florida, not so sure about them beating Texas, should they beat the Gators.

Texas has a problem with a Florida type offense, which is similar to the bottom three of our offense which gave Texas fits this year. They handled our big guns quite well this year. It was Turang, Martinez, and Parsons that killed Texas all year.

Last time Patti and the girls won was also the year we won it all in football.

History repeats itself! Is that too optimistic? Probably.

Against Texas this year,

AB R H RBI BB
14 2 7 1 0 Martinez
11 2 5 4 2 Parsons
11 1 6 3 2 Turang

36 5 18 8 4

The bottom three batted 500 against Texas this year. They had trouble scoring because Chamberlain was about 1 for 17 with the one hit being that sun field triple in the last inning today. The bottom of the order killed Texas.

These statistics don't even give Turang a single rbi for that three-run bunt she had today.

NCAA Fielding:
2. Washington
4. Florida
6. Oklahoma
12. Tennessee
13. Arizona State
30. Texas
35. Nebraska
149. Michigan

Have we seen fielding problems from lower-ranked teams?

Wow, exciting finish to the Neb-Florida game! Huskers with 3 in the bottom of the 7th to put it into extra innings, tied 6-6

Great game! Just goes to show, you can't overlook any team at this level.

Connie Clark made a major error IMO in pulling Luna with a lead. She was just quoted on Thursday that she would always leave Luna in a little longer than normal because she would almost always get out of the jam. I think we would of beaten them anyway with Luna but they had almost no chance after pulling her. They weren't going to beat us with Bruin or the other girl they put in. Luna was their only chance. Then again Clark was the coach when they couldn't win a NC with Cat Osterman, one of the best pitchers in the history of the game. Good job, Connie!

Arizona State and Washington may play by midnight. After this game, they are going to have some tired arms.
