OU/Texas

It's difficult to win at some places. I saw a lot of missed calls, as well as a lot of unnecessary calls in which there was a presumptive touching. We didn't play intelligently beginning with about two minutes left in the first half. We kind of backed into this loss with a lack of what had brought us to this point.

Texas did not win anything. When you have that kind of officiating, it's too bad that they don't just call the game a draw and walk off.

Disappointing loss.....OU had the game in hand and let tx back in...Lots of "questionable" calls went against OU. I would have liked OU to go inside more and get Stafford fouled out earlier.

Lessons learned..hopefully!

We got very little production out of Sharane and Maddie disappeared in the second half until she fouled out. If those two would have come through in the second half, we would have won in regulation.

This officiating is a joke. No chance.

I'm glad that you noticed. OU lost, but probably learned a few things,. It could be worse. (excuse me, I have to take an emergency break)...

We'll beat Baylor in Norman, and quite possibly in Dallas.

Two overtimes?

Pretty ironic that the ref wouldn't call a foul at the end until there was very little time on the clock.

It's official. I don't know what a charge is. I also don't know what constitutes a foul when a screener is set, doesn't move and the offensive player runs into her, yet the foul is called on the defensive player.

But Texas feelers aren't hurt so that's all that really matters in the long run.

The problem was that they weren't calling fouls on Imani-Stafford, just like with Nneka. She hit Ortiz with the body rather hard on one drive, and all they did was call it a clean block, which it might have been with the hands. But, her hips were all over Gabbi.

The biggest problem that we have with someone like her is that we get intimidated. Kay Kay was just throwing it at the basket at times, as though afraid when she "shot it." We had others who seemed afraid of being blocked, even Gioya. Make the right play. Don't let intimidation be a better blocker than she is.

Kaylon just does not play smart at times. I'm sure Sherri just cringes at some of the silly fouls she commits.

Well, that was disappointing. But when you consider all that happened, it just shows our 2nd team is better than Texas' starters.

At some point it struck me that if the big-12 officials & administrators have decided to throw some games to protect Baylor and the other Texas teams, the Big-12 could end up with far too little representation in the Big Dance.

They could just foul out 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 or even all the players on our team and fix the result in several games.

At the same time, KK really frustrated me with that last foul. Absolutely stupid. Why in the world would she do that when she has been told a million times to control the fouling and stay on the floor? I repeat that foul was as dumb as all but one foul (yes I once saw a dumber one) I have ever seen in all my life, considering the situation. If she had stayed in the game, the way it played out, we could likely have dominated the inside in that last overtime.

I agree 100%. And I remember the play with gabbi. Should have been a foul. And the habit of our girls (and men) of trying to avoid getting their shots blocked. I would rather they try to block it (maybe they do, maybe they get called for the foul) than shoot off-balance and miss. That's what I was wanting at the end of regulation.

And similar to the fact that I didn't know if Jordan Woodard could dunk, I would like to know if one of our bigs can run faster than a jog????

Just disappointed with the loss.....:eddie187_jpg_xs:

Yeah, I share the frustration of the others on the board with the officiating. My cat doesn't like me anymore, what with all of the yelling at the TV/officials.

Crappy officiating. Most especially the foul on the screen. NO WAY that should not have been on UT!

Like the announcer said at the end of the game, Sherri told the ref that "you managed to foul out half of my team, but it took you 6 seconds to blow your whistle, now???" :facepalm

That would have been a foul on who---Atkins? They gave several calls to her tonight. You would think she was Candace Parker. She kicked into Carter on one play, with her knee, got the shot and the foul. It was totally on Atkins.

I think OU should be quite willing to pay Sherri's fine if she calls them out. It's time to call them out.

I agree about Kay-Kay's last foul. But, if Kay-Kay hadn't fouled out and Imani fouled Kay-Kay in the same way, I seriously doubt that the official would have called the foul.

You think the officiating was bad tonight, just wait till we play AT Baylor....The "intimidator" will be in the refs heads...and we will have 5 players foul out...Just hide and watch !!!!

Texas had some girls who played very well tonight, but most especially Brady Sanders, the redheaded guard. She out-quicked us to the basket numerous times tonight. Played very well.

I don't know that I would say that Maddie disappeared. She was "disappeared" by some rather interesting calls. Two of her fouls were complete nonsense, both of which resulted in turnovers, her only two turnovers. They came out to guard Maddie after her ten-point run in the first half. After all, she had killed them in Norman as well. But, nobody was moving in the second half. She was having difficulty getting someone to screen for her drives, and nobody moved to get open when they collapsed on her on the drives. Someone should have been moving to get open somewhere. We were a bit flat-footed, even in the first half. We didn't exactly move well. We just hit about four quick threes to take the lead. Another foul on Maddie came when Imani-Stafford backed into her in order to get position to shoot on a putback. If there was any foul, it was on Imani-Stafford.

Gioya looked a little rushed on her short jump shots tonight as compared to recently. She was missing. I'm not sure that she was even squaring up. She was 5 of 15, which is a bad night for her.

Maddie was 4 of 7. Kay Kay was 3 of 8-----from a post? Vivi was 1 of 4. We were afraid to shoot inside.

I totally despise Kim Mulkey, but I wish sometimes that Sherri could work the officials like Skeletor does...

Sometimes, I think we need to pull the same thing that the football fans did in the early fifties. I think the name of the official was Cisco. State police had to escort him safely out of Norman. I don't know if he ever officiated another OU game again. Never paid attention to who wore the stripes. I didn't see the above. I just read about it.
