Our Top 6 players

If your top 6 players are that good, do you really think they will still be around in 15-16?

This is the worthless aggies way of taking a shot at OU and OU fans. It is what these people do. They come here for no reason other than to stir the pot. Sadly, I feel like several of you miss this. Very few people go to another teams message board for any purpose other than to antagonize opposing fans.

Not a shot, just an observation. You don't think it's possible for Buddy to get looks from the NBA? That's a good thing isn't it?

Buddy won't be a first rounder after this year, and I doubt he will be a lottery lock after next year...which tells me he'll stay.

Honestly, I want Booker launching 3s. He needs to figure out his rhythm at the D-1 level. Players are quicker and get a hand in your face before you know it. I think it is important for him to figure out what a rhythm 3 is at this level and I want him to shoot until he gets it. I think once he gets the timing down and starts to understand when he can shoot and when he needs to try a pump fake/dribble drive/pass he'll be deadly. His shot looks fundamental, he just needs to get used to playing high-major college ball.

I agree with you. Kruger does, too, or Booker would not be taking those shots.

By "picking his spots," I meant that he should take open shots when they're available, but pass on shots that are closely guarded. He was a great shooter from long range in high school, so there is no reason to believe he can't do the same in college. But with the pressure of playing at the D-1 level as a freshman, he's not ready to hit a decent percentage of shots with a hand in his face. Maybe he will be in time. I just don't see it as a good shot for him right now.

I would rather see Frank be prepared to launch the good shots from three, meaning when he's open, and drive on the defender or pass the ball to a teammate when the shot is marginal. If there was a stat for closely guarded and open, I think we would find that most of his makes came on wide open threes when he could take the shot in rhythm, with no thought of having it blocked.

I believe the JUCO ranks could be a very important part of that 15-16 year, there are some good players out there that if he adds a PG or Center to the fold we could even look even better

i don't see any reason to sign a juco player in next years recruiting class

I think our top 6 are all solid players but there is not a "superstar" among them, which is why we all assume they will be here for 4 years. Sure some may get a look at the NBA, but I don't see anyone on our team that's anything close to a lock to stick in the NBA, which honestly isn't such a bad thing for OU. It means we actually get to keep our good players for 4 years and build chemistry.

If OU wants to make a serious tourney run, meaning Final Four deep, in the next two years, it would be nice to add just one "superstar" to our roster, ala Blake Griffin, Marcus Smart, etc.

buddy has every chance to be a 1st team AA before he is done .. that is a superstar any way you look at it

That's a bit of a stretch. People are debating whether he'll get drafted and you think he'll be a top 5 player in the country by his junior or senior year?

If he keeps improving he has a chance at both. Lon said in his 30 years of being a head coach Buddy is the person he has ever seen be in the gym the most.

Coaches have this thing down to a science... If the kid doesn't listen, he doesn't play. Take bad shots and coach doesn't want you to take... You sit...

While I see your point I can also see where ocugolf is coming from. Fitz was a black hole. Dude never passed. His junior year, when we stunk, it was obvious he was told to make a move/shoot every time he got it down low. It seems like that translated over to his senior year. He never passed the dang ball.

being an AA has much more to do with team hype than it does with talent ..

OU has every chance to start and finish in the top 5 2 years from now ..

buddy will most likely be our leading scorer ... at 18+ per game ..

if so he will be an AA

No doubt Buddy has a chance to be a great COLLEGE player, I love his game. However, what I was referring to was NBA type talent on our roster, meaning players that could leave early, which I don't think we have any. I think Buddy will get a shot in the NBA if he keeps improving his shot, still fairly inconsistent there. He's going to be a great player for us for the next 2 1/2 years, all I am saying is that he is unlikely to leave early.
