Are as good as any top 6 in the league. I think our final record and post-season performance depends heavily on how well Neal, Bennett, and Booker develop over the season.

I still think we need one more recruit for next season (SF or backup PG) if we want to enter sweet 16 territory.

Also, we ONLY lose DJ Bennett after next season. That following season we are going to be really, really good.

This group we have coming in is going to be much better than we think, they are going to really beef us up in the middle and we are like you said maybe one more player away from being a top 3 team in conference. But, I believe a big turning point was getting Woodard. He has been above his years and once we get into conference and he sees that guard level the Big 12 has he will gain experience like Horn and Hield did last year and going into next year the stage will be set for a run at the Big 12 title'

Yes, '15-'16 is setting up to be a preseason top 10 team with a legit shot to make a run at a final four, barring any foolish early entry decisions or major injuries or knuckleheadedness. That team will likely be starting 3 seniors, a junior and a sophomore, with two juniors and two sophomores coming off the bench.

I believe the JUCO ranks could be a very important part of that 15-16 year, there are some good players out there that if he adds a PG or Center to the fold we could even look even better

Is anyone else getting tired of watching Booker just catch and launch threes nearly every time he catches it? I like his stroke but man he needs to be a little more selective. Could be a great spark 3 point shooter off the bench if he learns a little discretion.

My math might be a little fuzzy, but I think we will have a senior off the bench that year too.

Starting Buddy, cousins, and Spangs, Je'lon off the bench

I agree, he needs to do a better job of picking his spots to launch a three. I said the same thing on another thread last week.

Having said that, though, I have to believe that Frank has the green light to take those shots. LK must have a lot of confidence in his ability to make them, otherwise he would use the hook to let him watch the game from the bench. My guess is that our coaches see something in practice to keep the green light turned on.

Honestly, I want Booker launching 3s. He needs to figure out his rhythm at the D-1 level. Players are quicker and get a hand in your face before you know it. I think it is important for him to figure out what a rhythm 3 is at this level and I want him to shoot until he gets it. I think once he gets the timing down and starts to understand when he can shoot and when he needs to try a pump fake/dribble drive/pass he'll be deadly. His shot looks fundamental, he just needs to get used to playing high-major college ball.

It doesn't hurt him taking several 3's a game right now. LK's leash will tighten as Big 12 play approaches

That is right. A case could be made that OU is better than everyone we played so far except Michigan St. Kruger let Frank bomb away in all those games except one. He didn't see the floor in that one.

Frank bombs away in practice too. He isn't hitting any better than in the games. But, I remember one day when he fired one from way out and missed. Kruger stopped action and gathered up the defense to coach on them pretty hard. His point was that they had to close out better.

After he sent the defense back to their spots, he walked across the floor and grabbed up Frank and he said "you were three steps behind the line, you have to find a better shot than that."

It doesn't hurt anything to let Frank take the shots that he wants against an inferior opponent. He will probably learn something from it and he will eventually come around.

I suspect that Booker was recruited to shoot threes. He will be given some time to learn the conditions under which he can be effective shooting threes in college. But, I don't think he was recruited to mimic a point guard.

I think he is doing what he is told...

Great looking stroke. Needs to stay confident!

It is nice to have you around to share things like this.

I agree with a lot of things said in this thread and I'm sure Lon sees it as well. I'm just concerned that it is a learned behavior for him that will be tough to shake. Many times he doesn't even look for someone to pass to, even in transition, he just launches instantaneously and a lot of his shots are ones I wouldn't even be happy if Kevin Durant were shooting.

Hope you guys are right and he will learn what his role is and when to let it fly.

Coaches have this thing down to a science... If the kid doesn't listen, he doesn't play. Take bad shots and coach doesn't want you to take... You sit...

Booker will settle down once he sees how important he is now. LK has seen all of the things young kids do and will get it straight

If your top 6 players are that good, do you really think they will still be around in 15-16?

Yes.

Hollis Price was better than anybody on your current roster. And he never sniffed the NBA. It is possible to be a darn good college player, but not really have an NBA future.

So true. Eduardo Najera played a bajillion seasons in the NBA and stayed four years. Romero Osby. Taylor Griffin. We went to the final four in 2002, and not a single person left early for the NBA.
