And my argument/disagreement to that is you aren’t going to fill the 5/6 spots you have open due to guys leaving early/transfers due to the coaching change/etc with ELITE top guys at this point for year one.
But if you told me you can take a top defender from another Power 5 conference that started a lot of games the last two years and he doesn’t turn the ball over I’d say count me in every time.
He doesn’t move the needle cause why? Because he doesn’t score a lot? His list to play for isn’t that great to the naked eye? LOTS of guys and other teams wanted Bishop and the guy averaged 11 pts/6 rebs a game for Creighton. I would have argued that they were a solid team but nothing spectacular and yet some analysts are saying what a great get that is for Texas. It’s not always just about numbers (especially scoring) but what other intangibles a guy brings to the table. One of the lists I’ve seen in ranking guys remaining has Goldwire ahead of Harmon. Clearly Harmon shoots it better but Goldwire MUST do something well in order to be ahead of harmon and some other “big” names on the list.
If you aren’t going to score in bunches you better have guys that LOVE the other end of the court and again, if it’s Harkless, Goldwire and Gibson walking out as starters for year 1 under Moser, I’ll take that in a heartbeat.
But you aren’t wrong, you don’t have to agree with it at all
