Rakeem Christmas commits to Syracuse

yeah, just about to post that. I agree with your comment. However, only way I personally see OU getting a recruit in 2011 is if it's a major guy like Christmas or it's obvious that a guy is going to be leaving.

Ok well I still think we have a great shot with Rotnei Clarke because he's way better than Page IMO.

Is Clarke leaving...? Ive only heard rumors... or did I miss something?

I hope Capel continues to go after guys like Christmas. Sooner or later we will start getting these guys. I believe last year set us back a bit but once we can string 2 or 3 years together as a household name like we were when Blake was here, guys like Christmas will be playing their ball in Norman. I think Capel being a Duke guy will not settle for less. He believes OU can compete for NCAA titles and nothing less.

The biggest thing that has bothered me as someone who follows recruiting is the attitude that some fans have, like "why bother going after this big names". Scott Drew doesn't play it that way, and it's going to pay off with Nash and Austin. It doesn't hurt to go after a kid like this. We went after 5 of the biggest names around last year and still ended up with a decent recruiting class. My only gripe with Capel is they have had the "2 birds in the bush" philosphy over the one bird in the hand philosphy. I think it costed us Leslie, Roberson, Singletary, etc.

He'd better not go to seminary school up there in NY. He'd surely hear a lot of heckling if he came out as "Father Christmas".
