Satisfied?

I doubt that I have maximized my potential academically, professionally or as a parent. I'm imperfect. So how in the hell can I hold other people up to standards that i can'e meet myself?

All of you who have maximized your potential in every aspect of your life, feel free to feel disappointed in this season if we don't go as far as you arbitrarily think we should.

The idea that one has to be perfect to offer criticism is absolute nonsense. I, like everyone else, am evaluated by myself and others constantly in life. Sometimes I meet expectations, sometimes I exceed them, and sometimes I fall short. That's life.

So this thread somehow became about having a right to criticize?

I guess I need to pay closer attention.

And sometimes expectations are unreasonably high, because one has an emotional investment in a person's (or a team's) success. Our team is made up of elite players (taking the entire populace into account) and they are better at what they do than most of us are at anything we do.

But you'd never know that to read this board at times (meaning, virtually any game we don't win by double digits).

I am satisfied, before the season I thought we would go to the sweet 16"again. I thought we would lose to nova. The only knock is I thought we would finish 2nd in the conference not 3rd, but I will trade that for an elite 8 all day.

Agreed brother! I felt like for this season to be a success we needed to:

A. Improve our record from the year before (25-10 to 28-7) CHECK
B. Make it past the Sweet 16 CHECK

Other little tidbits that made this season special

1. Buddy averaging 25.0 ppg on his way to the wooden is just awesome
2. Beating nova by 23
3. Beating Wisconscin by 17
4. Beating the #1 draft pick on his home floor (when they were at their best)
5. Winning 2 of 3 against ISU
6. Sweeping the pokes....again.
7. Having now won 8 games against top 25 teams
8. Trouncing A&M
9. Having 11 wins against teams with 20 or more wins.

Just an absolutely remarkable year!

In my own personal cathartic cleansing.....I am more than satisfied with this team and this season. As frustrating as this team can be at times, it pales in comparison to what they have accomplished. A few times during the season, I have been a harsh critic of this team and some of their faults, but I will never again doubt their toughness (mentally and physically) and their effort level. They have reaffirmed our pride and what it means to be Sooners.:OU-logo::chestram2:

The Sooners just breezed into the elite 8. They showed what they can do when they put a complete game together. Clearly expecations were not unreasonably high.

As for satisfied, I am now. I had elite 8 in my mind before the season started, and the team got there. They improved on last season and didn't underperform their tournament seeding. Everything else is gravy at this piont. I felt the same way last year about the sweet 16 appearance.
