I think Zaga and Purdue win today.

Probably going with MSU and UK tomorrow. UK catching a break with the Auburn big man tearing his ACL.
 
How long before texas fires Shaka and hires beard?
 
If you can hit 3s, Virginia is beatable

Purdue taking it to an extreme

I doubt if Texas would be the only school going after Chris Beard. Brinks trucks with armed guards may be rolling into Lubbock from several different directions before long. He’s got to be at the top of a lot of wish lists right now.

I agree...spending so much time thinking what it would be like if Kelvin Sampson was UCLA’s top choice...but Beard may be their top choice. Notice it has been very quiet on the UCLA hiring front. It’s enough to think their top candidate is still playing (like Beard or Tony Bennett).
 
Not all styles mesh well at every school, and in every conference.

Beard is a heck of a coach, but would he be able to get the kids he'd likely be recruiting at UT (or other schools) to buy into his system? Add UCLA to that list. To defend and play hard like TT does all of time? This is why the process of hiring coaches is tricky. Be interesting to see how his career unfolds though.

I'm not sure Beard would leave for UCLA even if they wanted him, as long as TT made a solid offer money-wise. The guy has admitted to wanting to work in this part of the country if possible.

Good point. I'm not sure he would be a fit at UCLA.

However, if Beard consistently won big at Texas, I bet his style would be embraced there by fans and recruits.

Agreed.

If I'm UT, I probably take the chance on him. They might try to wait one more year when Smart's buyout goes down, and maybe a non-Elite 8/Final 4 TT is easier for Beard to leave.

Great round of Elite 8 games. I'm a little disappointed in the Final 4 matchups, though. I don't HATE them, but I don't love them, either. Kinda feels like Sweet 16 matchups more than Final 4 to me.

Oh well. No such thing as a bad Final 4 match up.
 
If UVA beat Mich State for the title, I’m $500 richer
 
I love the Final Four participants. The only way it could have been better would have been if Purdue had beaten Virginia.
